Rules/RegulationsI and Mrs. Enns, in conjunction with EF personnel are responsible for the safety and reputation of this group. Accordingly, anything that anyone does to jeopardize the safety or reputation of the group will be taken extremely seriously. Typically, if a student’s conduct necessitates punitive action on my behalf, they just became my best friend. They will complete the rest of the tour at my side – not beside their friends, they will eat all meals with me, special rooming arrangements will be made so that they aren’t in the same room as their friends etc. Please note that, if at any time, a student participant’s conduct requires them to be sent home during the trip, that will be at the sole cost of their parent(s). If an adult participant’s conduct requires them to be sent home during the trip, they will simply not be part of the group any longer. All travel documents will be provided to the adult participants and they will be responsible for arranging their departure back home. Please understand that the safety and integrity of our group is our highest priority.

Airplane EtiquetteMoving Around The Cabin participants should respect others’ space in the aircraft. This means trying to stay in your own seat, not cutting through other peoples’ area etc.

And avoid doing this if at all possible!!!

Tour Rules - GeneralATTENDANCE at all scheduled activities is mandatory - only if a physical ailment occurs would a participant not attendCURFEW is at 10PM and students are expected to be in their designated rooms on time; bed checks will be done (unless on tour)SMOKING is not permitted on any form of transportation, in hotel rooms or other close quartersALCOHOL is strictly forbiddenPOSSESSION of illegal drugs and crimes will be punished by immediate dismissal from the trip and a return home at the participants expense - all participants are subject to the laws of the country they are visitingNIGHTLY meetings in the lobby to discuss the next day and the time to meet so you are aware of what is happening the next dayPARTICIPANTS must be with the group (or assigned smaller group) and abide by this system faithfully!

Tour Rules - General - ContinuedWHEREABOUTS participants must inform Mr. Robertson or Mrs. Enns of their whereabouts at all timesCARRY the names and telephone numbers of the hotels with you at ALL timesHOTEL DOORS must remain open at all times when men and women are in the same roomHOTEL ROOMS are to be respected. Should anything be broken in the room, that room’s occupants are responsible for the damage and must pay for it before we leave the hotelWATCH your bags and belongings at all times - NEVER leave them unattended

Packing Reminders• PACK what you think you want to take in one suitcase and one carry - on - then carry both pieces up and down a long flight of stairs for 10 minutes non-stop; if this is too much to carry, eliminate what you really don’t need !• IDENTIFY your belongings with name and address tags.• Special tape will be used to identify PCA participants’ luggage: this will be attached starting Wednesday at lunch when you drop off your luggage in the my classroom•PACK light, comfortable footwear (not new).• PURCHASE film/photo cards/batteries - they are almost impossible to find once on tour.• PACK something to read on the plane and gum for the takeoff and landing. Also drink plenty of water or juice on the plane to prevent dehydration. GET SOME SLEEP!!!

Packing Reminders Continued• Travel experts suggest that if you can’t wear something several times (except socks and underwear), don’t pack it.• Tag your luggage on the inside and out (in case your luggage tag gets torn off or your luggage gets lost).• Roll everything you can. This will keep it from getting wrinkled.• Use space saving ideas such as if you pack a purse, fill it with items(because it counts as a carry-on, stuff socks into shoes if you are bringing more than one pair.• DO NOT PUT THE FOLLOWING ITEMS IN YOUR CHECKED BAGGAGE - CARRY THEM WITH YOU ON THE PLANE (passport - chaperones will carry once on tour, credit cards, money, prescriptions, vitamins, glasses, contacts, anything you consider irreplaceable).•Your carry-on should contain enough for you to get by for TWO DAYS without your luggage (assume it will not make it)

Packing Reminders ContinuedConsider bringing the following items with you: A safe way of carrying money (money belt) - $30-50 per day Comfortable runners/shoes for a great deal of walking Music (CD or mp3 player) with extra batteries if necessary -

MAKE SURE IT WORKS OR IT COULD GET CONFISCATED Playing cards or other small games Clothes in layers - a light rain jacket At least one pair of pants Some snack bars such as granola bars A watch (preferably with alarm) Swimsuit – PCA appropriate If you wear contacts, bring glasses as well A plastic garbage bag or two for dirty laundry Clothes that can be worn multiple times/easily washed/easy to

take care of A POSITIVE, FLEXIBLE ATTITUDE !!!

Top ten items to pack• Umbrella/Raincoat• Pen/Paper• Hotel & Tour Info.• Debit Card• Alarm Clock• Camera• Batteries and photo cards• Prescriptions (in original bottle)• Snacks• Safety Wallet for Passport & ID cards

•Approximately $30-50 CAD per day.• MONEY for lunches is needed •TUCK some money (small amounts) in another place in your baggage, for emergency use if necessary.• Participants should never carry more than $50 around with them at any one time (loss, pickpockets etc.) unless in a special pouch hung off the inside of the belt.

Money Reminders IICARRYING MONEY:•Participants should consider wearing a neck valaise underneath their clothes to thwart pickpockets BUT these can be cut free and the belt one would be better.• Female participants, if they are going to take a purse along, should hold it in front of you at all times.•Male participants, if they are going to bring a wallet, should keep it in a front pocket rather than a back pocket with your hand on it at all times.

Credit/Debit Cards

•ATM cards work well as long as you are prepared find an associated bank (similar symbols) and TELL YOUR BANK YOU ARE TRAVELING!

Telephone Calls• PHONE CALLS or other personal expenses incurred in the hotels are the students responsibility to pay the night before departure.•Participants also should have received EF calling cards depending on when they signed up for the trip; instructions are on the back of the cards. On past trips, these cards have produced mixed results – you get 5 minutes pre-paid.•Watch roaming charges on your cell phones!

Dress/Attire• Be aware that we will be going into religious centres such as churches and that they usually require people to wear long sleeve shirts, long pants etc.• Have the ability to layer your clothes as temperatures may range from 20 C to -10 C.•Have a compact, ventilated umbrella.• We will be doing a great deal of walking so ensure you have comfortable walking shoes/runners.

Backpacks Etc.All paying trip participants (assuming that you registered for the trip in time) receive the following items: EF Backpack Phone card with 5 minutes free (load before you

leave ) that does not expire after the trip!

Calgary Airport (YYC)• Stay by Mr. Robertson or Mrs. Enns• Ensure you have your passport/money etc with you• Wrap the special tape to your carry-on bag and checked bag (if not already done)• Ensure you don’t have any “controversial” items in carry-on bag• Ensure electronic devices work before going through security• Once everyone has arrived, we will move to the group check-in (if you want to sit beside someone on the plane, try to stand beside them in line). If it doesn’t work out at check-in, don’t worry as we have 11 seats on the plane and you can move around after we are in the air.• After going through check-in (and security) relax until the flight departs
