Pawleys Island has an emotional pull for those that vacation here. It is an escape from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives. And for those of us that live here, we appreciate the beauty and lure of the beach and the pristine saltwater marsh known as Pawleys Creek.
When visitors are not sunbathing and wading in the surf, they are crabbing, cocktailing, and enjoying the view from the creek docks. And it is a beautiful thing!
But, there is another favorite past time for these Pawleys regulars. It is for men, women, and chil-dren of all ages. You can see them idling along the creek, against the tide, in a small jon boat with a beverage in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the sights and smells of the creek, spend time with a friend or family member, and catch dinner! Everyone knows that Pawleys Island is a laid back, unique place. And this style of fishing follows suit. Slow trolling with the hope of an occasional nibble. And the catch of the day? Flounder! That quirky looking, delicious, unique flatfish. They can be elusive at times, but when fisherman are able to get one to the boat, they know they have landed an esteemed and appetizing prize.
Flounder ambush their prey, feeding at soft muddy areas of the creek bottom near bridge piles and docks. Catching them requires local knowledge and an understanding of how and where to fish for them. But many try their hand at it. Locals and vacationers alike.
The flounder typifies enjoyment of the creek. Laid back fishing , laid back lifestyle, and uniqueness.
It typifies our way of life, and now, it represents our apparel line.
