The Vinten Radamec LegislativeControl System meets thesespecifications and is capable ofproviding multi-user, multi-facilitycontrol of cameras, CCU controlsand ensuring rapid, accurate shot acquisition:

Flexible and intuitive User Interface

Based on Windows, offering screen saver and other power saving requirements,the unique Graphics User Interface (GUI)provides the operator with up to dateinformation on the available functions andstatus of the system. The user can selectwhich information they would like to view and, if required, this can be split over multipletouchscreens.

Multiple cameras and shots

The software seating plan represents theroom layout covered during production. Each seat is then associated with multiplecameras, each with multiple shot capabilities. The operator assigns and prioritises a series of generic shot types against each seat (or target) for the session.

Simple and flexible touchscreen operation

The seat (or target) is then recalled throughtouchscreen control or via a third partyinterface i.e. microphone. The systemcalculates the best quality shot available. Pan and tilt heads relating to these shots willmove into position*. There is the option to havemultiple target recall.

There is an option for an interactive seat planwhich can highlight the open microphone oron-air seat/target.

*except the camera which is on air.

External trigger control

Shot selection can also be controlled via anexternal trigger such as a microphone switcher.When a particular microphone is activated it can be used as a trigger for shot recall, fromwhich the LCS calculates the camera shot type required and sends the shot to preview. This enables rapid shot selection leaving theoperator free to concentrate on trimming theon-air cameras.

High repeatability and accuracy

In a legislative environment, debate is oftenheated and it is not uncommon for speakers tosit opposite one another. It is important to considerthe time taken to move between Representative1 to Representative 3 (illustrated on the diagramhere); Vinten Radamec’s Fusion FHR-35 isrepeatable to within 60 Arcseconds. Over 22m,this equates to less than 6mm which means theoperator can return to, and repeat, each shotwith an extremely high degree of accuracy.

The Vinten Radamec LCS provides the option, if required, to have more than one camera on-airand cameras can also be manually locked.

Rapid movement between shots

Highly accurate, swift movement also ensuresthe operator achieves that all important shot,which is often challenging when maintainingcoverage during a debate. Vinten Radamec’srobotic heads pan and tilt at 60° a second so the time taken to pan from representative 1 torepresentative 3 (60°) is one second, ensuring a rapid, as well as accurate, response betweenshot recall.

Wide coverage, improved flexibility

Vinten Radamec’s FHR-35 pan and tilt head has 720° of pan and 180° of tilt which ensures an extremely wide variety of available shots.

Smooth on-air motion

The high resolution encoder system ensures accuracy and repeatability, and high quality on-air movement; operators can also profile a movement to add extra viewer interest.

Vinten Radamec LCS Legislative Control System

The Vinten Radamec Legislative Control System is configured to meet thespecific requirements for parliaments andlegislative applications, and provides rapid shot acquisition for single or multiple camerasthrough a joystick panel and touchscreencontrol. The system is configured for a singlecontrol system and can be expanded to multiplecontrol stations with multiple cameras. The LCS also provides interface links toadditional facilities such as multiple touchscreen systems, microphone systems,character generators and vision switchers.

The LCS system can be a drop-in replacementto the existing DOS controlled systems,controlling existing heads via an Ethernetprotocol interface supplied by Vinten Radamec.There is no need to change remote heads,wiring or cameras.

Vinten Radamec Fusion FHR-35 Remote Pan and Tilt Head

The FHR-35 an and tilt head supports cameraand lens packages up to 16kg / 35lbs and isdesigned to give high performance in situationswhere the head should be as unobtrusive aspossible. Agile performance and preciserepeatability are combined with the ability toperform slow, smooth movements during on-airconditions. The head is ideal for smaller studiosas well as a variety of non-studio locations suchas legislatures and parliamentary buildings. The Fusion FHR-35 is the showcase for VintenRadamec’s Intelligent Control Engineering (ICE) technology.  A major advance, ICE is acompletely new engineering solution whichenables the head to operate over a standardEthernet connection and configure incrediblyquickly. With no external power supplies orNLDs to connect, the head talks directly to thecontrol panel, and retains its compact and sleekdesign whether it’s mounted on a wall, tripod,ceiling or pedestal.

Autocam HS-105 Remote Pan and Tilt Head

The extremely rigid mechanical design and high precision servo technology ensures the HS Range of heads provide broadcast quality smooth movement at all times, while still achieving outstanding acceleration working seamlessly with the Vinten RadamecControl System.

The HS-105P is designed specifically for use with ENG cameras and lens configurations with a 34 kg (75 lbs) capacity. The fastacceleration of the HS-105P lends itself to a variety of applications outside the studioenvironment including parliamentary, or conference coverage.
