The mindset of rationalism

• There is no supernatural• Education of the mind is what counts• When you meet people who talk about the

supernatural they must be weird or dangerous with other agendas

Page 4: Paradigm shift “a change of lens through which reality is perceived”

Inadequacies of this

• Rational argument or mind education does not bring healing to the soul or deliverance from addictions

• There is no grid to weigh the value or danger of non rational experiences .

• This mindset is not a global mindset but a western one

• This mindset affects our view of the Bible

Page 5: Paradigm shift “a change of lens through which reality is perceived”

The results of this• Your mind is not able to follow what you

experience of God so you can have understanding. It just remains a mystery.

• Your mind is trained to look for facts in the rational world and therefore does not see any supernatural facts to evaluate.

• You do not notice the signs of God’s presence, and therefore do not move with the Lord

• Your thoughts make a difference to your world(e.g. Jesus could do no mighty work because of

their unbelief. ).

Paradigm shift

• The supernatural is in the Bible• The supernatural in the experience of Jesus

and the Church (Acts)• The Bible shows how what is unseen is more

important than what is seen. • The kingdom of God is a new supernatural

scene

The Bible shows how what is unseen is more important than what is seen.

• 2 Cor. 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

• Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

The kingdom of God is a new supernatural scene

• Hebrews 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

• Matthew 6:10,11Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day tomorrows bread.
