Thoughts regarding the SCTE San Diego Chapter Board of Directors Election Notification

…do I want to get “on board” and offer support?

What is the SCTE from a local Chapter perspective?

What inspires me to participate and contribute in achieving our yearly strategic goals?

In my opinion the SCTE is a platform whereby we collectively work together to support the sharpening of talent across our industry and assist in their learnings to that end. At the chapter level we are intensely focused on professional development and mentoring our new and evolving membership as well as our industry partners. The scope goes well beyond Comcast; Cox Communications; MediaCom; TimeWarner or any other local company including the multitude of industry vendors that comprise our primary cause. The concept that I, as the SCTE San Diego Chapter President, strive to engage is a sense of perspective that our desired outcome is a successful journey that is all about the “good of the many”. Our purpose goes well beyond the barriers of the specific company you work for but rather across all facets of our industry. Although participating on the board must be supported by your employer that by itself is not the only driven motivation to sustain a genuine desire to serve on the Chapter board. I believe your personal commitment goes beyond yourself or your company. You must have a spirit to give back to an industry that has given you and others around you a boundless frontier and an undeniable career opportunity. All of us as industry partners are fortunate to have been in association with an innovative and constantly evolving industry. Over the years the SCTE has been a significant partner through it all and is postured to continue that support as we turn the corner to a new prosperous leg of our journey. With all this said recruiting potential Board volunteer talent whether it be an Associate Board Member or a full seated Director, the spirit of giving of one’s talent in support of others is a honorable “Cause above Self” behavior that is a must. The prime questions board candidate recruits must ponder are, “Why do I want to participate on the board” and “What talent can I bring to the board and its mission?” You are more than halfway there if while pondering these questions you realize you are indeed in it for “the good of the many”, the SCTE San Diego Chapter members and the success of our industry as a whole .
