The Second Sunday of Advent December 9, 2012
Be patient. God isnt finished with me yet! Whenever I am tempted to get impatient with myself, this sayin
brings me comfort. If, as St. Paul suggests, we are Gods work of art, each of us is also a work in progress. Th
is why we can be grateful for all that God has already accomplished in us, yet humble in regard of our very re
limitations.
This is reflected beautifully in todays second reading. Paul is bursting with pride in the church of Philippi, a Christiacommunity very dear to his heart. Writing from his prison cell, his deep joy rings clear: I am confident of this: th
One who began this good work among you will bring it to completion in the day of Jesus Christ. How will th
happen? Through continued growth in compassion and love, knowledge and insight; through lives dedicated to rig
conduct and justice, to the glory of God.
Maybe we can make this our prayer as we penetrate into the heart of this season of Advent. What are some of yo
concerns about your future? Are you ready to trust that God is already at work in you, and that God desires tbring this good work to completion? On our Advent journey, let us continue to deepen our trust in the slow b
steady work of God. Through His grace, and through our active cooperation with that grace, we will become th
masterpiece God has created us to be.
All young and young at heart are invited to join us at
5:00 pm this evening for an evening of Christmas
carols in St. Monicas neighborhood. While sharing our
gift of song, we will also be collecting non-perishable
food donations for the Food Pantry. Following the
caroling, everyone is invited in the church hall for hot-
dogs and hot chocolate. This will be followed by a
Christmas concert in the church at 7:00 pm all are
invited to attend! If you would like to share yourtalent, please contact Odette through the parish office.
But please, mark your calendars and plan to attend.
Did you receive the Christmas Letter? If you didnt it is possible that you are not currently
registered on the Parish Lists or that you have moved
and we dont have your new address. We urge you to
pick up a copy of the letter on your way out of church
today. We also ask that you contact the office to verify
that your information is correct.

Last Sunday, after the 11 a.m. Mass, a gener

electing three (3) wardens. According to the Fabriqu

and are eligible to serve up to two consecutive term
At this election,Joe Supino and Ralito (Drex) Meriale
were elected to three-year terms, and Carmel Kilkenn
re-elected for a two-year term, completing th
mandate of Pat Brabant, who has resigned. We exten
our thanks to Pat Brabant andTom Glowacki for the

their election and Carmel on her re-election. Togeth
with George Wong, Angela Onesi, and Ursulen
