We still have heaps of school jackets, lunch boxes & drink bottles in lost property.

All of the above will either be donated to the second hand uniform shop or thrown out this Friday. Please see the office if any of this belongs to you. Thank you.

Rehearsals, Stage Band and Senior Ensembles We are now settled with 3 bands: Junior, Senior and Stage. These arrangements will stay in place until the end of term. The Senior Band will continue to fly the school’s colours at external performances. Next year’s program will be decided in the next few weeks and advice will be communicated as early as possible.

Guitar This week we bring Part 1 of a 3 part series providing a little background about the guitar program.

Tutors Jose Zarb is a full time professional musician and an EHPS parent. He works primarily as a performer with several bands and duos as well as a good deal of solo guitar work. Cameron Jones is also a full time professional guitar player. He and Jose collaborate on a project called Gadjo Guitars which celebrates the music known as Gypsy Jazz. This project has been very successful. They play at many corporate functions and jazz festivals including Darling Harbour, Bellingen and the Brisbane Jazz Club. Jose and Cameron are both classically and jazz trained. Links to their work can be found at: www.marsalamusic.com.au | youtube marsala music Sydney | www.gadjoguitars.com www.emmagraveslive.com | or search youtube jose zarb Heineken Open Next week we will describe their teaching methods. Please contact Karen Milne at: [email protected] if you intend to start or continue guitar next year.

  • 2013 Swimming Carnival

Early next year our swimming carnival will be held on Tuesday 5th February at

the Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton Swim Centre in Manly. This carnival is for students

in Years 3-6 and any Year 2 students who will be turning 8 years old in 2013 and

are able to swim 50 metres unaided.

For next year’s carnival, time restraints have been placed on the swimming

centre and consequently the allocated time for our swimming carnival has been

reduced to approximately 3 hours (We had been allocated 4 hours in previous

years). The 2013 carnival will be held from 11:40am – 2:45pm.

This reduced time means that our organisation and running of the carnival for

    2013 will change.

    These changes are as follows…

Students must nominate which events they would like to enter by

completing a nomination form. For students wishing to enter their chosen

events, this form must be returned to their classroom teacher before

    Friday 7th December.

Students cannot enter an event on the day of the carnival; however,

students can withdraw from an event on the day of the carnival.

There will be no finals. Place-getters and zone representatives will be

selected using the fastest times from the heats.

The nomination form was sent home to students on Monday of

week 5. If you need another note, spare notes can be found

at the school office or on-line on the school website.

Please ensure that when students are nominating for events,

they must be able to swim (unaided) the distance required

    for each event.

To assist us with our planning of the day it would be

appreciated if all students could return the nomination form before Friday 7th

    December.

We thank you for your understanding.

    David Waters & Jonathan Rosconi
