    Orthodox Prayer

    The Lord's Prayer

    Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy

    will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and

    forgive us our tresasses as we forgive those who tresass against us, and leadus not into temtation, but deliver us from the evil one.

    The Creed: The Symbol of Faith

    ! believe in one God, the Father "lmighty, #a$er of heaven and earth, and of all

    things visible and invisible;

    "nd in one %ord, &esus 'hrist, the (on of God, the Only)begotten, begotten of

    the Father before all ages; %ight of %ight, true God of true God; begotten, notmade; being of one essence with the Father; by Whom all things were made;

    Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from the *eavens, and was

    incarnate of the *oly (irit and the +irgin #ary, and became man;

    "nd was crucified for us under ontius ilate, suffered and was buried;

    "nd arose again on the third day according to the (critures;

    "nd ascended into the *eavens, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father;

    "nd shall come again, with glory, to -udge both the living and the dead; WhoseKingdom shall have no end;

    "nd in the *oly (irit, the %ord, the Giver of life; Who roceedeth from the

    Father; Who with the Father and the (on together is worshied and glorified;

    Who sa$e by the rohets;

    The True #eaning of the Word /'"T*O%!'0 in the 'reed1 /!n One, *oly,

    'atholic, and "ostolic 'hurch.0

    The word /catholic0 means /universal0 as referring to the 'hurch of all times,

    eoles, and laces, Where there is neither Gree$ nor &ew, circumcision noruncircumcision, 2arbarian, (cythian, bond nor free1 but 'hrist is all and in all

    3'ol. 41556.

    " celebrated definition of /catholic0 in the early 'hurch was given by (t. +incent

    of %erins, the 7th century monastic Father of Gaul, who in his 'ommunitorium

    says1 /8very care should be ta$en to hold fast to what has been believed

    everywhere, always, and by all. That is truly and roerly 9catholic,: as indicated

    by the force and etymology of the name itself, which comrises everything truly

    universal0 3ch. , Fathers of the 'hurch edition, g. oman 'atholic0church, but the teaching of the early 'hurch has been reserved in the Orthodo?

    'hurch, which even to this day can be and still is called /catholic.0

    The >oman 'atholic 3Western6 church searated from the True 'hurch in the

    year 5=7@ after changing the 'reed and wrongly claiming suremacy of the

    2isho of >ome 3oe6 over the other bishos.

    Arifting further from its origin, the Western church was then shattered into a

    myriad of sects by the rotestant >eformation. *owever, in Greece, >ussia, the

    2al$ans, #iddle 8ast, and elsewhere, the True "ostolic 'hurch continued to

    flourish, reserving the Faith of 'hrist ure and unchanged.

    Today this 'hurch is $nown as the 8astern or Orthodo? 'hurch and it is a haven

    for those see$ing 'hrist:s truth.
