Dr. Clay Wang and MPTX graduate students Michelle Grau, Jillian Roms- dahl, Yi En Liao and Ada Blachowicz (pictured from leſt to right) were all invited to present posters at the 14th Annual European Conference on Fungal Genecs (ECFG14) held in NEWS Michelle Grau won 2 Best Poster Awards while presenng at the European Conference on Fungal Genecs! Michelle Grau (MPTX Program, Dr. Clay Wang, advisor) received the Best Poster Awardfor her poster tled, Acvaon of a silent cluster in Aspergillus nidulas through the development of a hybrid transcripon factorfrom the 14th Annual European Conference on Fungal Genecs (ECFG14) held in Haifa, Israel on February 25-28, 2018. Michelle received a second Best Poster Awardfrom Asperfest, which is a one-day workshop that focuses specifically on Aspergillus fungal strains. Michelle received a financial award for each of these awards. Congratulaons Michelle! Jordanna Jayne won 2nd place at the 10th Annual Graduate Student Symposium! The Graduate Student Government held its10th Annual Graduate Student Symposium on the UPC on February 11 and at the HSC on February 12th. Graduate students from across the USC graduate programs submied their abstracts to apply for the Graduate Student Symposium; the top 46 students were selected to give 10 minute presentaons on their thesis projects on their home campus. Jordanna Jayne (CXPT Program, Dr. Beringer, advisor) received 2nd place for her presentaon on Elucidang the An-Inflammatory Mechanism of Acon of the Anmicrobial Cyclic Pepde, Rhesus Theta (θ)-Defensin-1.Jordanna was one of the six School of Pharmacy graduate students selected to present their research at this symposium: Jason Giles (MPTX Program, Dr. Haworth , advisor), Larry Rodriguez (PSCI Program, Dr. Davies, advisor), Amelia Spinrad (Reg Sci Program, Dr. Pacifici, advisor), Rachel Reyes (CXPT Program, Dr. Davies, advisor), and Johannes van Dijk (MPTX Program, Dr. Wang, advisor) also presented their thesis projects.
