This is it, here comes the big one, DOUBLE POINTS in the final race of Season 1. For those competitors seeking a top 1,2,3 finish or simply wanting bragging rights all winter over their mates, its show time! Below we have all the info on this Thursdays Closing Ceremony + Double Points Race, the end of season prize giving & our quick feedback survey (510 minutes max). Anyone who completes the survey in full goes in the draw to win a $200 Quiksilver voucher, drawn at the end of season prize giving on March 21st. Look forward to seeing you all this coming Thursday, bring your families, bring your friends, Thursday night is going to be a stunner! Thursday - Closing Ceremony This Thursday at 615pm (after briefing and before main race events) we will be doing a closing ceremony and Karakia just off Mission Bay to unite all Watermen & Women of the Jetts City Surf Series. This will be done with all participants out in the water (over head high depth), sitting on their boards/ Ski Paddles, all linked together on the water, ideally in one large circular form, similiar to the image below. Event Director Troy Huston will begin proceedings once everyone is linked with Matthew Silich (JCSS Crew member) to perform the Karakia. Timings as follows: 535pm - Novice SUP / Surfboard paddle as per normal. 605pm - Race briefing + Closing Ceremony setup and info 610pm - Set up of Closing Ceremony (on the water) 615pm - Karakia 630pm - Racing as per normal (15 minute delay), Double Points 730pm - Mecca Stonehouse – Prize giving Jetts City Surf Series

End of Season Prize giving

Each  week  at  Mecca  Stone  house  we  don't  mention  1st,  2nd  &  3rd  in  each  category.  Thursday  March  21st  however  we  will  be  making  a  BIG  fuss  over  our  category  champions,  and  we  encourage  all  participants  (regardless  of  your  overall  placing)  to  come  along  for  what  promises  to  be  be  a  great  social  night  out,  with  drink  and  food  specials,  loads  of  spot  prizes  throughout  the  night  +  the  Samoa  trip  giveaway.  The  night  at  Mecca  Stonehouse  will  run  as  follows:      6pm-­‐7pm  -­‐  A  social  paddle  off  Mission  Bay  and  a  few  giveaways,  bring  your  SUP,  try  a  new  Starboard  from  Jeremy  and  Victoria,  pick  up  a  few  tips  from  some  of  NZ's  best.    7pm-­‐730pm  -­‐  Time  to  return  your  Timing  Chips.  For  those  who  paid  their  $20  deposit,  you  will  get  this  back  tonight  between  these  times.      730pm-­‐9pm  -­‐  Prize  giving  for  1st,  2nd  &  3rd  place  getters  in  each  category,  spot  prizes,  a  guest  speaker,  the  Survey  giveaway  ($200  Quiky  voucher)  &  the  massive  trip  to  Samoa  courtesy  of  Island  Holidays.

A  few  points  for  this  Thursday:      *  Thursday  March  14th  is  a  Double  Points  race.  It  is  a  $20  entry  fee  on  the  day  at  the  registration  caravan,  with  all  proceeds  going  to  Surf  Lifesaving  Northern  Region.      

*  1st,  2nd  and  3rd  will  be  calculated  from  your  highest  nine  races  out  of  12  (including  the  Double  Points  Race).  If  you  haven't  done  nine  races,  but  make  the  top  3  for  your  category  you  will  still  be  acknowledged  on  the  podium  for  prize  giving,  just  not  awarded  a  major  prize.  

*  All  participants  who  complete  9  races  of  the  JCSS  (including  the  double  points  race)  go  in  the  draw  to  win  a  holiday  to  Samoa,  thanks  to  Pete  at  Island  Holidays.  This  is  drawn  at  prize  giving  and  you  must  be  present  to  claim  the  prize.  Plenty  of  other  spot  prizes  also  for  other  attendees  of  prize  giving.
