Remember - Every Day Counts!

Jo Money Principal TRAFFIC ALERT!!

With the new Foundation students starting on Monday there will be

more cars parked in the street until the new parents feel their

children are confident enough to access the drop off zone.

Meanwhile this may cause a traffic jam in Logan St at times! To

improve traffic flow we suggest that everyone enters Logan St from

the Melbourne Ave end and exits through Glenroy Rd. If you are

able, please consider parking in Melbourne Ave and accessing the

school through the back gate. This will help to reduce the

congestion.

Please be patient and we will do everything we can to help keep the traffic moving.

PLEASE NOTE: THE CAR PARK IS STRICTLY FOR STAFF ONLY

Reminders: Hats are compulsory from September to

April at school. Please make sure your child always

has their hat as NO HAT NO PLAY.

Hats are for sale at the front office for $15.00

Keeping our brains healthy by

eating healthy food. Don’t forget our Healthy Eating Policy which includes water only!

Lunches need to be environmentally friendly with wrappers kept to a minimum

and good for our brains. Students are not permitted to take wrappers into the

yard with them.

TRY THESE TIPS:

- Use an insulated lunch box/carry bag;

- Water only in a drink bottle; - Think about what your child likes

to eat at home and try to translate it into a lunch box option;

- Make lunches the night before, both as a time saver and to keep food cold;

- Homemade pikelets, savoury muffins, mini quiches are a great snack size snack for recess. Make ahead and freeze.

Children look forward to

school lunches that have been

planned especially for them.

Appeal to your child’s taste

buds and appetite by keeping

foods simple; adding contrast

and variety!

Come and join us for

BREAKFAST every MORNING!

Monday to Friday from 8:30AM inside the

gym foyer area.

CEREAL, MILK, FRUIT, TOASTED

CHEESE TOASTIES, JAM/VEGEMITE

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As part of our commitment to the Child Safe Standards we have engaged Body Safety Australia to provide students across all year levels with body safety and protective behaviours education through a program from Foundation to Year 6 called Body Safety Superstars. To support ongoing conversations at home, we will be offering a one-hour information evening and encourage you to attend. The Body Safety Superstars Information Night will be held: Thurs 7 Feb 2019 from 6.00 pm to 7.00pm The Year 5/6 students will also be completing the Unique You Program that covers the physical and emotional changes of puberty. There will be a separate information evening that will be held for that program on: Tues 26 Feb 2019 from 6.00 to 7.00pm. All classes are delivered in an age-appropriate fashion in line with the National Curriculum, the Respectful Relationships and Health Curriculum, as well as Child Safe Standards. Student groups will use storytelling, song, drawing, games and group discussion to explore such topics as:

Families: what is the role of a family, who are our safe adults, how do we communicate our needs

Emotions: identifying and articulating emotions including our ‘early warning signs’ and our fear responses.

Communication: communicating assertively and respecting verbal and non-verbal boundary settings

Online relationships: Who are our friends? What is respectful? When should I ask for help?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you wish to attend the Information night(s) please complete and return to the school by Tuesday 5th February 2019.
