Defence Day of Pakistan 2016

The Embassy of Pakistan celebrated Defence Day of Pakistan on 19 December 2016 in Jakarta. Senior officers from Indonesia military, Ambassadors, Defence Attaches, Business People and Pakistani community participated in the Reception. Ambassador Aqil Nadeem and Colonel Khurram Shabbir, Defence Attache addressed the audience followed by cake cutting ceremony.

Condolence Messages

Ambassador Aqil Nadeem visited Qatar Embassy to sign the condolence book on the passing away of Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani on 25 October 2016.

On 14 December 2016, Ambassador Aqil Nadeem visited Turkish Embassy to sign condolence book on loss of lives in terrorist attack in Turkey.

Cultural Event by Indonesian Ministry of Defence

Pakistan Air Force, Army and Navy officers currently attending Staff Courses in Indonesia, participated in a Cultural event organised by Pusdiklat Bahasa, Badiklat Kemhan. Pakistani Stall won the first position.

International Junior Science Olympiad 2016

Six students from Pakistan participated in International Junior Science Olympiad held in Bali on 2-11 December 2016. Pakistani student Yusra Nadir won Bronze Medal.

Pakistan Participation in SIAL Interfood 2016

SIAL Interfood 2016 was held at Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta on 9 – 12 November 2016. Pakistan Embassy in Jakarta organized the participation of 8 companies which exhibited their products including, kinnow, rice, meat, chilli, pepper, and potatoes.

The exhibitors included M/s. Tooba Rice Mills, M/s. Imtiaz Enterprises, M/s. Chase International, M/s. Staple Foods, and four other Pakistani companies who participated as US-Pakistan Partnership for Agricultural Market Development. Ambassador Aqil Nadeem visited Pakistan Pavilion and held discussion with Pakistani participants.

Diplomatic Course

Pakistan NMC Delegation, on a Study Tour to Indonesia The National Management College (NMC) delegation visited Indonesia from 29 October to 3 November 2016. Their briefings were arranged at Embassy of Pakistan, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), House of Representatives (DPR), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Project, and Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI).

Participation in 16th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting

16th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of International Labour Organisation (ILO) was held on 6–9 December 2016 in Bali. The meeting was formally inaugurated by Vice President Jusuf Kalla. Pakistan was represented by Ambassador Aqil Nadeem in the meeting. Ambassador delivered the Country statement highlighting Pakistan’s successes in upholding labour rights.

Trade Expo Indonesia 2016

A delegation consisting of Pakistani businessmen and journalists visited Jakarta to attend Trade Expo Indonesia on 12–16 October 2016 in JI-Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta. They visited Pakistan Embassy and were briefed by Ambassador Aqil Nadeem.

Bali Democracy Forum 2016

Ambassador Aqil Nadeem represented Pakistan in the 9th Bali Democracy Forum. The Forum was formally inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on 8 December 2016 in Bali. The Forum was also addressed by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

Diplomatic Tours

Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs arranged a Diplomatic Tour for Jakarta based Ambassadors to Tanjung Pinang, Capital of Riau Islands on 28–30 October 2016 to attend Riau Festival. Ambassador Aqil Nadeem participated in the tour and received shield of appreciation from the Governor of Riau Islands. On 4-8 November 2016 Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also arranged a Diplomatic Tour to Banda Aceh, Capital of Aceh Province. Ambassadors were received by the Governor and were also taken to various women empowerment and child protection projects.

WIC Bazaar 2016

The 49th Annual Charity Bazaar of Women International Club (WIC), Jakarta was inaugurated by Ibu Iriana Widodo, wife of President Joko Widodo on 30 November 2016. She along with wife of Vice President visited different country stalls and bought few items. Pakistan Embassy also set up a stall displaying Pakistani art works, handicrafts, clothes and many more items. The Embassy also donated a handsome amount for charity purposes out of sales proceed.

Pakistan-Indonesian Joint Cultural Event

A joint cultural event showcasing Pakistani cuisines and Indonesian Culture was organised at Pakistan Embassy Residence on 27 October 2016. The event was attended by large number of Women International Club (WIC) members. Leading Indonesian fashion designer Harry Darsono also attended the event.

Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) Visit to Medan, Indonesia

Two Pakistan Maritime Patrol Ships of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) named HINGOL and BASOL arrived in Belawan, Medan, Indonesia for port call from 27-30 December 2016. Pakistan Navy Ships regularly visit Indonesia as a goodwill which is a testimony to close friendly relations between the brotherly countries. Later, Governor North Sumatra, Mr. Haji Erry Nuradi also met with Pakistan Maritime Ship Commanders and Defence Attaché Pakistan on 27 December 2016. Other activities included a friendly volleyball match and Open ship visit by families and children.

Pakistan Ship Commanders also hosted a Dinner Reception, which was attended by large number of TNI officers, Indonesian government officials, and Chief Pemuda Pancasila Bapak Kodrat Shah.

Students Visit to Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta

Groups of students visited Pakistan Embassy, Jakarta to have detailed interaction with the Ambassador and other officers to get information about Indonesia and Pakistan bilateral relations and current situation in Kashmir. The student groups included Pakistan Alumni of Indonesian students, students of IR Department of University of Indonesia, Student of Pelita Harapan University, Student of 37 Senior High School, and Student of Al-Azhar University Indonesia.

Seminar on Kashmir

A documentary on indiscriminate use of pellet guns by the Indian security forces on Kashmiri masses was also shown to the audience. The Seminar was followed by the Question & Answer Session, wherein, the speakers responded to the queries of audience.

The Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta, in collaboration with Islamic and Middle East Research Centre (IMERC) organized a Seminar titled, “Human Rights Violations in Kashmir” at the University of Indonesia, on 10 November 2016. The Seminar was attended by large number of students, faculty members of University of Indonesia and media persons. The speakers included Ambassador Aqil Nadeem, Mr. Hendra Chairman IMERC and Mr. Khalil Vice Chairman IMERC.

Seminar was arranged by the Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta in collaboration with Kashmir Solidarity Forum in STIAMI University Jakarta. The event was addressed by Ambassador Aqil Nadeem, Dr. Zahir Khan, Chairman Kashmir Solidarity Forum, Dr. Yulianto, Vice President STIAMI University and Dr. Taufan Maulamin, Director of STIAMI University. The speeches were followed by a question and answer session and screening of a documentary on ongoing human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir. The event was attended by large number of students and teachers.

Ambassador’s Visit to Darunnajah Islamic

Boarding School

Ambassador Aqil Nadeem visited Darunnajah Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) on 2 November 2016. He was received by the Principal of Darunnajah Dr. Sofwan Manaf. Ambassador had detailed interactive session with students who asked questions regarding Pakistan-Indonesia relations, educational system in Pakistan, Scholarship availability in Pakistan, and ongoing human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir. Students from Darunnajah Boarding School had been opting Pakistan for their higher education.
