Visit to Jakarta
On 26 July 2017, Pakistan's Ministry of
Defence delegation visited Jakarta for
talks with Indonesian Defence Ministry
officials. The delegationalso called on
Ambassador Aqil Nadeem.
Indonesia and Pakistan held the 1st Meeting of Bilateral Consultative Forum in
Jakarta on 11 July 2017. Pakistani side was led by Mr. Zulfiqar Gardezi,
Additional Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs whereas Indonesian side was
led by Mr. Desra Percaya, Director General KEMLU. Both sides discussed whole
range of issues in bilateral political, economic and defence fields. Mr. Gardezi
also called on Mr. Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir, Vice Minister of Foreign
Affairs of Indonesia, and Mr. Hirubalan V P, Deputy Secretary General of
ASEAN.

3rd Review Meeting of Pakistan-
Indonesia Preferential Trade
Agreement
Third round of Pakistan-Indonesia
Preferential Trade Agreement Review
was held in Jakarta on 10-11 August
2017. Pakistan delegation was led by Mr.
Taimur Tajammal, Joint Secretary,
Ministry of Commerce. The Indonesian
side was led by Mr. Iman Pambagyo,
Director General of International Trade
Cooperation. Ambassador Aqil Nadeem
in his opening remarks called for a
balance in bilateral trade and asked for
market access for Pakistani agricultural
and textile products. The Review
Meeting concluded on 11 August with
signing of Minutes of the meeting. Under
new arrangements, Indonesia will allow
import of Pakistani Mangoes from next
year.

A delegation of Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency
(PILDAT) including prominent Parliamentarian/Jurist visited Jakarta from 17-19
July 2017 to learn about civil-military relationship and development of
democracy in Indonesia. The delegation was led by Senator Mushahid Hussain
Syed and included Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi and member of National
Assembly Syed Naveed Qamar, MNA. They called on Vice President of
Indonesia Mr. Jusuf Kalla, President of Leimena Institute on development of
democratic institutions in Indonesia Mr. Jakob Tobing, Coordinating Minister
Mr. Wiranto, members of Indonesian Parlimentary Commission I on Foreign
Affairs, Defence and Internal Security matters, Indonesian Defence Minister Mr.
Ryamizard Ryacudu, and Deputy Speaker of the DPR Mr. Fadli Zon. The
delegation also called on Mr. Prabowo Subianto, leader of Gerindra Party. They
also had an interactive session with representatives of media, civil society and
academia. On 17 July 2017, Ambassador Aqil Nadeem hosted a dinner in honour
of the delegates.

Flag hoisting ceremony was held in Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta to celebrate the
Independence Day of Pakistan. Large number of community members attended
the ceremony.

Punjab Investment Board's CEO Mr.
Jehanzeb Burana visited Jakarta to
explore opportunities for Indonesian
investmens in Pakistan on 22 August
2017. Besides meeting with leading
business representatives, he called on
Dr. Alwi Shihab, former Foreign
Minister and currently President's
Special Envoy for Middle East, and
handed him over an invitation letter
from Chief Minister Punjab Mr.
Shahbaz Sharif to visit Pakistan with a
business delegation.

A two member delegation from National Disaster Management Authority
(NDMA) from Pakistan attended meeting of 1stIntegrated Intersessional Meeting
on Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System in Indonesia.

International Day in Atma Jaya
University
An international day was held in Atma
Jaya University Yogyakarta on 25
September 2017. Around 25 countries
students participated in the event.
Three Pakistani students Naseer
Ahmed, Muhammad Amir and Hamza
represented Pakistan. The students
provided information about Pakistan
and its rich culture to the visitors.
Pakistan Parliamentary delegation consisting of Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan,
MNA, Mr. Makhdoom Syed Mustafa Mehmood, MNA, Senator Mr. Mohsin
Aziz, and Senator Dr. Ashok Kumar attended the World Parliamentary Forum on
Sustainable Development from 6-7 September 2017 in Bali. The Delegation also
delivered statement on sustainable development and highlighted the steps taken
by the government of Pakistan.

Eid-ul-Azha Gathering
The Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta hosted a dinner for community members to
celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on 1 September 2017.
Independence Day Celebration in
Timor Leste
The Pakistani community in Timor-
Leste celebrated the 70th anniversary of
their country's independence at a gala
dinner held in the Timor Plaza Hotel's
Suai Ballroom. Guests included the
Timor-Leste Vice Minister of Public
Works and Transportation, Inacio
Moreira, the Malaysian Ambassador to
Timor-Leste and embassy staff, and the
Brunei Ambassador with her staff. H.E
Aqil Nadeem, Ambassador of Pakistan
to Indonesia and Timor Leste, addressed
guests via video link. The event was also
covered by the national television
network, GMN. Also present at the
function were members of the business
community.
