2 Christ Nagar International School, conducted a poster-exhibition and signature campaign on the hazardous effects of Endosulfan. The programme entitled “Save Our Generation” was inaugurated by Smt. P.K. Sreemathi, the State Minister for Health. Through this move, the students aimed at creating awareness about the controversial pesticide and also to secure a nation-wide ban on it. More than 5000 signatures were collected through this campaign. It was arranged in the Christ Nagar School Grounds and the signatures thus collected were forwarded to the Chief Minister, Shri. V.S. Achuthanandan and to the Union Minister for Health, Shri. Anbumani Ramadoss. Christ Nagar International School is the first school from the state to have come up with an awareness programme on Endosulfan.Congratulations to the students of 10th grade and 9th grade students for organising the programme and making it a success. Onam Celebrations CNIS celebrated Onam on 20th august 2010 which was made more colourful by Ms. Kobayashi Fume San, a Japanese Teacher in TCS, Techno park inaugurated the function. The Onam message was delivered by Rev. Fr. Jose Kaduthanam which inspired everyone.CNIS celebrated Onam with great zest and vigour. Uriyadi, tug of war, thiruvathirakali, pulikkali etc, the traditional games of Kerala aroused nostalgic feelings.CNItes Styphe and Renjith blessed everyone in their Mahabali attire and Agnivesh came in as Vamanan. CNItes welcomed Mahabali by Panchavadyam and by arranging beautiful Pookkalam. Teachers presented a gorgeous thiruvathirakali as well.After a sumptuous Onam sadhya and 10 days of relaxation the school re-opened on 30 th August 2010. Yentha.com CNIS bagged the second place in the Pookkalam competition organized by Yentha.com. The cash award of Rs.1000/- was donated to our charity drive, “Gram Darshan”. On behalf of CNIS teachers received the crystal trophy from former ambassador T.P Sreenivasan, IFS. CNItes visit Technopark “Infosys” welcomed the students of grades VII,VIII and IX to make them aware of the Information Technology. The students participated in the workshop held at their Trivandrum campus. Shastra Prathibha Mathsaram The Shastra Prathibha Mathsaram held at SMV school, Trivandrum motivated many CNItes to participate. Kerala Piravi CNIS celebrated Kerala Piravi on November 1 st with a difference. Ms. Josy, gave an excellent presentation on Kerala’s art, culture, tradition and beliefs. Chocolates in Goethe Center Students of grade IV, bagged the award for the Best Chocolate Decoration, organized by the German institute, Goethe Zentrum , at Trivandrum. As part of their anniversary celebrations a banquet was arranged for the parents and guests. Young World Quiz Competition. Students of grade VIII and IX participated in the Young World Quiz Competition, organized by the prestigious daily , The Hindu. With BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER As a part of cultural and educational exchange programme,British High Commissioner had a meeting with our Principal Rev Fr. Josey and Mr. Thomas Mani Academic coordinator at Taj Residency. Raffle Draw CNItes sold booklets for the raffle draw. Thresia of grade VII, collected an amount of Rs.2400/-by selling 16 booklets. Thanks to the generous sponsors who made the event a successful one for our charity drive programme. The scintillating gifts were as follows: I Prize – Dinner for three at Taj Residency, Vazhuthacadu sponsored by Mullackkal Medical Store. II Prize – An attractive ladies watch and a pearl set sponsored by Consul of Maldives, Trivandrum. III Prize – Dinner for four at Travancore heritage, Kovalam sponsored by Genser Group of Companies. IV Prize – Gift Hamper of chocolates and cheese sponsored by Dreams, Kaudiar. V Prize – Beauty Products sponsored by Mary Ann Beauty Clinic. VI Prize – Gift Voucher from Sarwaa, Life Style Shop sponsored by Guardian Builders and Realtors Best Personality Our friends from Germany Jan and Kerstin organized the best personality competition in CNIS. It included various stages like self introduction, songs, spelling bee, act to the situation, staying as a statue and personal interview.
