Last Wednesday‟s Meeting
Our meeting last week was an Italian
meal prepared by Ambra and Anna,
friends of Margaret Stuart, at Bill and Sue
Hassell‟s. Nineteen members and
spouses thoroughly enjoyed a great night
of wonderful food and fellowship, with all
food prepared on the spot and we even
came away with most of the recipes.
A huge thank you to Sue, Bill, Margaret,
Ambra and Anna plus our old friend Tony
Munday who assisted with moving tables
and chairs to set the place up on
Wednesday afternoon.
Meeting, Wednesday, 20th July
Our speaker will Be Kevin Campbell AM,
who will be telling us about the National

the cost is $50.00 per person OR

As the date for the Rotary Youth Driver
Awareness on 16th August draws nearer
we still do not have any more volunteers
to assist on the day.
Anyone who is able to help out even for a
few hours please let Hamish or Di know.
This is an opportunity for you to become
involved and see
firsthand one of the
excellent youth
projects that Rotary
offers to Yr 11
students.
Remember that a
„Working with
Children” card is
necessary so if you do
not have one,
application forms are
available from the
Post Office or from

Bryant is required to
sign the application
and they take time to
be processed.

Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay, District 9455
District and International Awards
Last week it was announced that the
RCFB was the recipient of the inaugural
District Indigenous Service Award (along
with the RC Geraldton Greenough) for
the Unifocus GSE between Wiluna and
Fiji and the recipient of a RI Presidential
Citation with Distinction. This week we
have photographs of them both for you to
see.
Microscopes for Schools Project
Enquiries and orders continue to trickle
in along with communications from
numerous people seeking information on
the project.
Prof. Lyn Beazley promotes the project
continually and just today an email has
come from the Nicola Milson, Secretary
of Dr Janet Woollard MP saying “Dr
Woollard is very interested in learning
more about the project and the schools
involved.” She has requested a briefing
plus a list of schools who have
microscopes.
This project is lifting the profile of Rotary
in the community and with community
leaders.
Schools and Rotary Clubs are being
married up with success so we are
grateful to the Rotary Clubs who are
responding to the requests to sponsor
units in schools.
Access Housing Project
Bill Hassell and members of the
Community Service Committee sent out
letters requesting feedback on whether
there is interest in a social activity for
residents of the Access Housing or if
there is a need for assistance in any
capacity from the Club.
Response has been slow.
Dues are Due
Just over a third of
members have paid
their Club dues. It
would be appreciated
if all members and
„Friends of the Club‟
could pay by cheque
or by electronic
transfer into the Club
Operating account.

seeing what Principal David Wanstall has
introduced into his school.
Disappointed in the results of NAPLand
and students overall performances, he
has introduced a number of changes
which have markedly improved results. A
25% improvement in 18 months has
occurred.
The visit will be arranged for a Tuesday
or Thursday. Members interested in
participating please let Hamish know.
