and chairs to set the place up on

Wednesday afternoon.

The End of Polio Breakfast

Further to the information in last week‟s

Bulletin on the End of Polio Breakfast on

Wednesday, 5th October, please note that

the cost is $50.00 per person OR

$380.00 for a table of 8. Last week

the table price was quoted as a steal of a

deal, but unfortunately, incorrect.

Please encourage friends and colleagues

to purchase a table and come along to

the Perth Convention and Exhibition

Centre, Time 7.00am – 9.00am.

The Rotaractors are spearheading this

joint Rotary / Rotaract / Global Poverty

Breakfast and need our assistance to

make it successful.

RYDA

As the date for the Rotary Youth Driver

Awareness on 16th August draws nearer

we still do not have any more volunteers

to assist on the day.

Anyone who is able to help out even for a

few hours please let Hamish or Di know.

This is an opportunity for you to become

involved and see

firsthand one of the

excellent youth

projects that Rotary

offers to Yr 11

students.

Remember that a

„Working with

Children” card is

necessary so if you do

not have one,

application forms are

available from the

Post Office or from

Sec. Di. President

Bryant is required to

sign the application

and they take time to

be processed.

District and International Awards

Last week it was announced that the

RCFB was the recipient of the inaugural

District Indigenous Service Award (along

with the RC Geraldton Greenough) for

the Unifocus GSE between Wiluna and

Fiji and the recipient of a RI Presidential

Citation with Distinction. This week we

have photographs of them both for you to

see.

Microscopes for Schools Project

Enquiries and orders continue to trickle

in along with communications from

numerous people seeking information on

the project.

Prof. Lyn Beazley promotes the project

continually and just today an email has

come from the Nicola Milson, Secretary

of Dr Janet Woollard MP saying “Dr

Woollard is very interested in learning

more about the project and the schools

involved.” She has requested a briefing

plus a list of schools who have

microscopes.

This project is lifting the profile of Rotary

in the community and with community

leaders.

Schools and Rotary Clubs are being

married up with success so we are

grateful to the Rotary Clubs who are

responding to the requests to sponsor

units in schools.

Access Housing Project

Bill Hassell and members of the

Community Service Committee sent out

letters requesting feedback on whether

there is interest in a social activity for

residents of the Access Housing or if

there is a need for assistance in any

capacity from the Club.

Response has been slow.

Dues are Due

Just over a third of

members have paid

their Club dues. It

would be appreciated

if all members and

„Friends of the Club‟

could pay by cheque

or by electronic

transfer into the Club

Operating account.

Young Cook

Fundraising Director Jenny Gill is

progressing with this, which will become

a signature fundraiser for the Club.

Any members with contacts in PR and or

have the ability to access suitable items as

prizes in the various categories (eg Ipads

/ Ipods or other things that are attractive

to our younger generation, please contact

Jenny.

Quiz Night

Donna Bicknell is spearheading this

fundraising activity.

Please start thinking about this, seeking

suitable prizes and talking to your friends

about attending.

Visit to Ballajura Primary School

When Schools recommence after the

midyear break, Director Hamish will

organise a visit to the Ballajura Primary

School for any members interested in

seeing what Principal David Wanstall has

introduced into his school.

Disappointed in the results of NAPLand

and students overall performances, he

has introduced a number of changes

which have markedly improved results. A

25% improvement in 18 months has

occurred.

The visit will be arranged for a Tuesday

or Thursday. Members interested in

participating please let Hamish know.

Updates on Members

Good to have Alistair Brown home from

his travels in PNG.

Paddy Ramanathan‟s health issues are in

the past, he will be back at work fulltime

this week and we‟ll be able to welcome

him back to the meeting on Wednesday.

Max and Merran Hipkins are taking a

short holiday. Travel safely and look

forward to seeing you next week.

Graeme Prior will be travelling with work

for the next couple of weeks.
