Selection of the right horn for EMC susceptibility testing is never easy given the large

range of antennas on the market. This is further complicated by the fact that many

antennas experience loss of gain when working at close range yet the data given often

refers to far field conditions.

Q-par Angus have generated a set of charts that will enable the user to quickly select an

antenna from the frequency range and Volts / metre values required. These charts have

been calculated using our own in-house programs which take full account of any near

field effects. Further, in many cases the predicted results have been confirmed by

measurements. Thus the user can specify an antenna in complete confidence of its

performance.

Should amplifiers be required, a range of suitable products from TMD Technologies and

Bonn Elektronik GmbH are shown in a similar way.
