Happy Halloween to all. I know its not until the end of the month, but I have to get my greetings in when I can. Halloween is always one of my favorite holidays of the year. I know that its origins stem from the dark side, but I believe that the modern day holiday is designed for the kids to have a good time. Its just a fun holiday for us all, no matter what age, to be able to dress up and go out and find a trick or a treat. Anyhow, I ask that you all be safe and celebrate the occasion responsibly.

Things are definitely winding down as we venture into the fall season. Both the MDRA and MAMA will wrap up their respective series in October. Matter of fact, the MDRA 6 Series is already in the books and their champions will be crowned in early November. You can see their ad here for a registration form and details on all of their year-end banquets. As far as MAMA goes, they traditionally hold their awards ceremony the first weekend in December, so stay tuned for all the details about that. Also, note in this issue that the PA State HS Series has changed their banquet to a Sunday date this year. See their ad and their website for

complete information. In this issue find both motocross and hare

scramble coverage, along with a few racer reviews and a new National Champion from the area.

Find your 2012 Mainline Champions, and as always, we have great deals from our advertisers, along with listings for the remainder of this years events.

Its been another fun year at the tracks, and we look forward to next

season already. I know many of the groups are already making plans for an exciting new racing year.

Well do at least one more issue after this one in

2012 and then its time for our winter break. If you want to keep riding, please see the schedule in this months pages for the Mid Atlantic Winter Series. The inside news has it that there will be a new local indoor riding area opening very soon. Stay tuned to our pages for more

info as it breaks.Well, thats it

for now. Thanks for reading, and

well see you all at the track.

Once again Mother Nature took her toll and wreaked havoc on another race weekend. The racers of MAMA got their Saturday practice and motos in only to wake to threatening skies on Sunday. A few races were able to be run but most were not as the skies opened. Enjoy some photos here from Lamarr Queen, then check out the complete album online at his website, which is listed below.

Doublin Gap MX ParkAugust 19, 2012 By: Jim Mucklin

As I pulled into Doublin, the sky was black with some rain for practice, but that didnt stop everyone who came to race on Rider Appreciation Day. By the first gate, the sun was trying, and it went on to be a perfect day for racing, plenty of lines and like glue.

On to it: I was checking out Kirk Ryans sweet 250 KTM Man, have they come a long way. In the 250B, he sealed it, followed by Bowers and Hoffeditz. In the Open B, it was Ryan, Helmick and the 8M Kaw of Melhorn who was there all day.

In the 250C, it was the Honda of Oberlander, then Francis and Barley. In Open C, it was the Honda of Landrum on the (210), then Oberlander and Coons.

Sorry, Kirk Ryan, but the ride of the day goes out to another KTM, Jason Neidigh on the 21 out of Carlisle, Pa., who won a trifecta of Junior Mini, 65B, and the 85B. Nice day and nice ride, Jason.

In the Junior Mini, it was Neidigh, Chase Yentzer and Dain Vallie, on KTM, SUZ and YAM, respec t ive ly, all out of Carlisle. Its not the bike, its the rider. It was nice to see smart riding and good sportsmanship when dealing with traffic. Thanks, guys.

    N e x t up, Derek L e a t h e r m a n takes the 50 (7-

    8) on a Cobra, then goes out and grabs his SUZ to put down some nice laps to win the 65C. Right on his heels was the 372 KTM of Ryan Canaguier, who finished second in both classes and took first in 50 Open. Look out, Kirk Ryan.

Heads up of the day goes to Carson Cahill, who listened to the starter and waited for his gate when everyone else left. Nice win, followed by Jay (I aint afraid to twist the throttle) Covert, who I have watched during the past few races and who is on the gas. Covert takes the first in 50(4-8) oil and Cahill second.

Yes, it was appreciation day. I got to see Riden and Albright go at it clean and fast. I got to see the young guys drop 6 gates and ride all day. I got to see the not-so-young guys have some fun and feel the age after 6 gates. And most of all, everyone got to go home safe. Thanks, Doublin Gap!

Congratulations Jed Haines National Hare Scrambles Series Champion

Longtime D-6 off-road racer Jed Haines from Fairfield, Pa., finally realized his dreams by becoming the 2012 AMA East Overall Hare Scrambles Series champion. Jed has finished up in third place overall the last couple of seasons, but his two overall race wins this year, followed up by consistent finishes through all eight rounds, landed Jed atop the podium this season.

In talking with Jed, he explained that hes always liked the National Hare Scrambles series since the courses are more like what we race locally here in the Pa area. Hes been following the series since 2009 (the last year his current team boss won the championship), when he won the Open A class and finished 3rd overall. Every year since then hes earned the #3, so his main focus this year was to do better than that.

Jed said, When I got the call to ride for the Obermeyer Yamaha/Raines Riding University/ OffroadViking.com team my focus changed to the GNCC series, but I still had a personal goal of winning the Harescrambles Series. The championship is a bittersweet win since Jason Raines gave me the call to ride for the team, and hes a past mutli-time hare scrambles champ. This season has been the best by far, not just with winning the championship, but I also won my first national race in the Pro class. I cant thank my family, all my friends, sponsors and supporters enough!

Watch for Jed as the GNCC season comes back to racing after the summer break. He sits in a solid 5th place in the XC2 Pro Lites division, not far out of fourth, and a few really good finishes could bump him into the top three there.

Happy Ramblers MDRA/CWR Quad SeriesAugust 25-26, 2012 By: Jim Mucklin

QuadzillaEveryone hates the weatherman when hes wrong,

but not today. They called for rain and that kept a lot of people home at many of the tracks. I had my doubts as I was going to Happy, but I kept seeing peeks of clear sky. Man, was I glad the weatherman was wrong, as we saw no rain, and they had kept the track tight till the last moment and then ripped it up. All Ive got to say is perfect all day, no rocks, no marbles, good to the last gate.

It had been a while since I had seen many of these guys, but it was nice to see some old faces, including Nicholas, Wotring and Lehr. It was also nice to see Barto and Nichols in A, and a field of some serious talent, New Jersey, was represented.

First up ride of the day was Peyton Zimmerman. If Peyton Manning can throw a football, Zimmerman can throw a Quad and air it out. Zimmerman threw two touchdowns to win the 90 Mod and the 90 Pro. Nice ride.

Holeshot of the day went to Shroyer on the 48, getting banged and on one wheel. If you have never been to a race and think this is your Grandpas quad, youre not even close. Come down to the first corner and watch 10 to 15 open wheel machines try to all occupy the same 3 feet of real estate. Theres all kinds of racing but there is

nothing like the sound of Quadzilla being released as the gate drops. Then theres that little bit of silence half way through the first turn, before its back on full blast.

Back to racing in the Pro Am - it was the 327 of Nolt, then Shroyer and Elliott. In the A, it was Barto, Nolt and Lehr. In B, it was the 98 of Barr on the gas hard for the win, followed by Swartz and Helsel. In C, 17 came to the gate. Machuski on the 5 with a master blaster hole shot took the win, followed by Wildsain and Angeli. Ive got to say this was fun; look out B class, there is talent here.

Speaking of talent, as I was hanging out at the riders meeting, I overheard someone say that quad riders are always getting dumped on. It made me think of all the guys and girls that I have watched move up from the 50s to 90s and into A. I thought of all theyve gone through, the deep ruts, big mud, the last moto of the day, and never once did they complain about being dumped on. They said, bring it on, I came to ride.

I enjoy doing what I do, and it inspires me to see young people focused on racing. Yeah, winning is part of it, but I can see in their faces that its about racing, going out and doing their best and doing the right thing, and to them, I say thank you.

So if you get a chance, come out to the fence to cheer these guys on, because they were there for you.

And thats the way I saw it.

Third Annual Allegheny Cup and Jack Carlton Memorial RaceRocket Raceway September 16, 2012 By: Jim Bull Photo.com

The Allegheny Cup Race is held each year to showcase the talents of our up and coming riders. The event was also in memory of Jack Carlton, founder of Rocket Raceway.

The racing was awesome, and the kids had a blast. Thanks to the Carltons, Chris Higgins and all of the racers and sponsors that made it happen. Check the results here and view photos online at Jim Bull Photo and video and pics at MXPTV.

2012 Sponsors-OilDri was donated through District 5. OilDri is a porous fabric that draws contaminants out of the concrete surface youre working on if you have a spill.

    -Silkolene Chain Lube.

-Yamaha of Camp Hill made a $500 donation for the Pro Purse!

    -Freedom Powersports

-Steelers Store. Steelersstore.com is a local business from Pittsburgh that specializes in NFL and Steelers team-approved merchandise.

-Transworld Motocross, gave out 25 full subscriptions.

-Sheetz sponsored their Z Cards. The cards are valid for fuel or in-store purchases of general items. With the rising price of fuel, this was a very timely and appreciated prize by many.

-Three Springs Mini Mart has been a longtime supporter of Rocket. Recently, the Google Maps were updated, but many employees of Three Springs Mini Mart gave directions to Rocket for lost patrons on their first time to the track. Three Springs Mini Mart gave $500 to the Pro Purse!

-Jeff Cernic of Cernics in Johnstown and Duncansville sponsored a free back tire for each 85cc Class winner, each 65cc winner and a free front and back tire for each 50cc Class winner! The retail value of this was nearly $900!

-Cobra paid contingencies of factory credit for parts and apparel ordered directly from Cobra. Its unusual to have minibike contingencies. The claim is made by contacting the operator directly, and then they verify the published results. You dont need to sign up.

-American Suzuki, through the generosity of District 6, paid contingencies.

-Braap designs, a creative T-shirt and clothing company, donated clothing as holeshot awards. The unique and fashionable designs were available for purchase at Rocket and were seen frequently in the pit area.

-The new owners of Rocket Raceway donated a years season pass to all class winners for practice on any day other than race days.

-Hillview Motorsports of Route 30 in Latrobe, Pa., donated a bike wash kit, goggles, tie downs, an air filter cleaning kit and chain lube. Hillview Motorsports has been growing steadily, particularly in Yamaha off-road sales for the last several years. National pro rider Steve Roman has played a part in promoting the shop and was featured on local television news channels just prior to Steel City.

-PR2 Racing will offer a racer discount to all winners of each class of The Allegheny Cup. Shane Durham, national points achieving rider in his single outing at Steel City, was on hand to provide advice, set race sag and discuss overhaul and suspension modification options with families.

-Pro Circuit made the first ever 50/60cc modified pipe for Cobra available in time for The Allegheny Cup. The pipe will be available for retail sale soon.

    - Mommy Gear, a boutique store for nursing moms, made available the trophy purchases of the individual class champions for each of the Allegheny Cups. www.mommygear.com

NEOC Round 7 Ormond Farms 2Sept. 8 9, 2012 Photos By: Tim Dennis Words By: Noel Hartem

Round 7 Ormond Farms 2 was a nice way to break back into the racing scene after a long summer break. We had 800+ riders come out to play, with a record turnout of 59 in our Oil Injected class. It was good to be back in the saddle, and I am happy to report that I didnt get one chigger or tick this weekend. I was hot in my overalls but they did their job! A HUGE THANKS to all the NEOC staff for jumping right back into the game without missing a beat, and a super thanks to all our NEOC families that always do their part in making sure our job is made easier by helping out when needed and respecting all the rules and boundaries. That means more then you will ever know. Please check out our website at: www.neocracing.com for the full race report, and we look forward to seeing you all back at our last two events of the season.

At the close of every year, I cant help but start to wonder about the next one and what it will bring to all of us. I know there will be young faces on the main event line that were once in the PW program or faces that are on the front line of the PWs that were once in the Tikes. Im not afraid of change or the evolution of life, but I wont lie, it does move me, and I sometimes wish we could stop the clock, which I suppose is what has caused my obsessive video and picture taking over the years. I dont want to ever forget what made me smile so when Im having a bad day, week or year, I can remember something good by looking at a captured moment from a yesteryear gone by.

Good luck in these last two events, everyone, and please dont forget what is most important and what will outlast any hunk of wood you might win..friendship & sportsmanship.

    Relationship, relationship, relationship.John 17:3

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and

Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. This is Zachary Camp; I was the chaplain for Doublin Gap and MDRA

from 2003 to 2010. In the above verse, you see the word know. This word in the original language means intimate knowledge, the same know that a husband and wife share of one another. Friends, it is truly a privilege to be able to get to know God, who is good and wants only good for you. Our God made this universe with many galaxies; He is mighty, wealthy, and full of compassion.

Have you ever thought, man, it would be cool to be best friends with Bubba Stewart. I mean, after all, I am sure he would teach you how to go faster, and he might even give you a bike and some amazing tracks to practice on. Well, think of Jesus as your (Life) factory connections guy; He knows how to win in life, and He wants to share it with you through the Holy Spirit. Imagine the Holy Spirit as the voice coming through your headset during a race; all the top racers wear them to talk with their mechanic, because they want all the best info about the race so they get the best chance at victory.

John 14:16-17, And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever -- The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.

Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit to live in us and to comfort and guide us. This is how you can have a real walkie-talkie relationship with Jesus and your Heavenly Father. Through the Holy Spirit, you can have daily conversation with God himself. So tell Jesus today that He is Lord of your life and that you accept His forgiveness of your sins. Ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit. Start talking to the Life Mechanic through your invisible Holy Spirit headset.

BTW, text me a thank you real quick if you liked this article. Text (MRA thanks) to 717-404-3878.

Labor Day weekend brought another action packed round to the north country of Pennsylvania. It was the final round in the MDRA 6 Series for the year, coupled with a points round for the racers of the WNYMA.

The weekend started off with a practice day on Saturday, followed by the always exciting SX Race under the lights on Saturday night. Expert riders saw a $500 payout for this event, and a free Pit Bike race was run at intermission to spice up the fun.

Sunday dawned to a full house with one of the bigger rounds of this year, hosting just over 520 entries. There was a $4,000 expert purse on the line for Sundays racing action, and it was also 250 novice class Race for Free Day. Its just another way the folks from Miles Mountain reach out to show their appreciation to their riders.

The gates were packed as the day clicked on, with some notable finishers on the day. Brandon Hartranft was the big winner, taking the checkers in all four of his classes. Young Chase Yentzer has been on fire lately as well. Chase won both of his classes, just as he did the week prior down at PVR. Michael McDade has been hitting the local seen lately, taking the win in Open A, and longtime veteran of the sport Ken Messerman won a couple of the age classes.

I wasnt able to make the trip to this round, but Id like to thank the crew at Miles Mountain for offering up a great program, the racers for making the trek to this beautiful facility, and Rachel Hunter for helping us out with the great photos. Well see you next time.

Loaded gates were the word of the day.

Foundation 529 ran a memorial lap at this round to help raise money for their cause.

Brandon Kurtz races to a 9th place finish in College Boy.

Mike McDade sweeps the Open A division at Miles.

Shay Tewksbury shows some style on his way to winning 25 plus B/C.

Happy Ramblers MCHanover, PA Sept. 9, 2012 By: Jim Bull Photo.com

The beginning of September took us to the Happy Ramblers Motorcycle Club on a beautiful early fall day. Close to 300 racers came out to enjoy the weather and the great track conditions that Happy has become known for in this 2012 season. As the day moved on, the clouds and the skies darkened and Mother Nature did her thing.

You can check all the results of the day here, and be sure to head right back to Happy for the final MDRA race of the season on October 6-7, 2012. As always, the track will be primed and ready to go. Well see you then.
