A New Home Going Ruth 1:15-18

INTRODUCTION Today is homecoming. We gather to rejoice and remember how God has blessed us these last 109 years. We gather to offer ourselves again to God and to move into the future as faithful brothers and sisters in Christ. Ruth, a woman from Moab, finds herself going to a home she has never seen and the things that motivate her are a link, her love and loyalty to Naomi. May God teach us this homecoming Sunday as we are people looking forward to a New Home Going!

I. Link: Connected to Go a. Ruth’s link with Naomi was strong, especially in tough

times. b. May God help us stay connected to God and to each

other no matter what may happen. II. Love: Comfort in Staying

a. Ruth was motivated by love to invest her life and her future in Naomi and the world of Israel.

b. As Naomi ‘s pilgrimage to Moab was seen as disobedience, the love of Ruth for Naomi is seen as moving to obedience.

c. May our love for God continue to move us toward complete obedience.

III. Loyalty: Commitment to serve a. Your God will be my God.

Ruth becomes the great great grandmother of David. b. She is also found in Matthew 1:5 and Luke 3:32.

CONCLUSION This Homecoming Sunday, may we be on the way home. Journeying like Ruth to a home we have never experienced but just as faithful to go. As we go, may our link (connection) be strong, our love be pure and our loyalty be undeniable.
