DESCRIPTION

For over 70 years, WEW has been pioneering innovative modular solutions for safely transporting some of the most toxic liquids and gases known to man in civilian and military supply chains. We specialise in providing integrated systems combining liquid/gas storage with ancillary services, such as pumps, specialist lining, filtration, telemetry, heating and cooling systems. Chemical, oil and gas, logistics service providers and defence forces all rely on WEW systems for the secure movement, storage and delivery of gases and liquids, ranging from foodstuffs to some of the most toxic chemicals in existence.

Transporting liquids and gases in global supply- chains demands technical and commercial expertise. Understanding the stresses exerted on the equipment involved, not to mention the regulatory environment, requires a specialist company with a wealth of know-ledge and experience. WEW has that experience and knowledge.

Chemical, foodstuffs and logistics service providers and defence forces all rely on WEW systems for the secure movement, storage and delivery of gases and liquids, ranging from foodstuffs to some of the most toxic chemicals in existence.

WEW’s 12.000m² design and production facility is located in the heart of Europe and employs over 120 highly qualified staff, many with very long service. WEW has an enviable reputation as a specialist systems integrator for fuel and water storage and distribution solutions serving armed forces, fire services and international disaster agencies all over the globe.

WEW has approval for the transport and storage worldwide of more than 2,000 hazardous liquids and gases, including nuclear. We hold more than 100 patents and plough back a substantial proportion of our annual turnover on R&D. WEW carries ISO 9001, ASME U and numerous other accreditations. Our design and development team ensure that our solutions continue to meet international regulations and use the latest materials, ensuring that your cargo reaches its destination and arrives in perfect condition.

WEW has leveraged these technologies to create an extremely flat, thin walled tank for the United States Army. The „Camel“ Unit Water Pod System replaces the 30 year old „Buffalo” unit. Besides the complex tank design, the system includes heating, insulation, pumping, with options to provide chilling and water bottling and packing systems for further distribution. A similar module has been developed and is under test with the German Bundeswehr.

Development and Design

Our systems are designed to operate worldwide and withstand the harshest handling conditions that can be associated with road, rail, sea and extreme climate operation. Over the last 5 decades, WEW has developed a deep understanding of the rigours involved with multimodal transport and designed our containers to overcome them.

As part of our testing programme we regularly run a programme of impact tests that are in line with ISO 1496/3 and we completed the latest test in October 2012.

Our state-of-the-art design office is equipped with latest technology CAD and Solid Works software. Our designers’ skills are demonstrated by the number of worldwide patents that WEW has been granted 53 in the last 12 years alone. To support our CAD work, WEW extensively uses FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools in conjunction with an institution that also works with one of Germany‘s leading car manu- facturers. WEW also has substantial experience in ILS areas such as dynamic load stability analysis and codification.

Each of our systems can be supplied with a full set of technical documentation including 3D-drawings, parts list and maintenance schedules and other ILS packages concomitant with defence, oilfield and other clients’ requirements.

Manufacturing and Accreditation

WEW‘s manufacturing plant is equipped with the latest high pressure cutting machines, 4-roll bending machines for cylindrical and non-cylindrical shapes, as well as super-automated and flexible welding equip-ment for longitudinal and circumferential seams. All critical seams are X-rayed. The level of automation that we employ ensures that the quality and value for money of our products is unsurpassed.

Every one of our manufacturing staff has completed a three year apprentice education at WEW and all WEW welders are certified to the highest levels.

Support Services and UpgradesWEW’s recently expanded facilities have greatly en-hanced the support and upgrading services that we offer, including off-the-shelf spare parts supply. This, combined with extensive field service experience, ensures WEW’s clients have the option of compre-hensive TLS (Through-Life Support), an important feature considering the decades-long lifecycle of WEW designs.

Hook-arm Capability - Fully ISO Approved

5

Defence forces, fire fighters and natural disaster agencies frequently use reduced height ISO containers fitted with a hook-arm system to transport fuel and water for forward and remote area operation.

WEW has developed and patented a system for distribution of both potable water and fuel which, coupled with a base ISO container design, enables the unit to be moved seamlessly through both the commercial and military supply-chains. Thus, for example, civilian fire fighting systems can be deployed with military vehicles whilst at the same time militarized containers can be carried on civilian trucks.

Using a hook-arm design puts considerable stress on a tank’s framework; our unique design reduces frame fatigue and has been proven over many thousands of iterations. This design has been in service for over 12 years and more than 1,500 hook-arm systems have been delivered to date.

Military Water and Fuel Supply Systems

WEW offers water and fuel storage and logistics so-lutions between 1,000 and 50,000 l, manufactured from 316 or higher grade stainless steel. Codified MOTS designs carry NATO Stock Numbers, have been rigorously type-tested and have proven themselves on military deployments over the last 12 years in some of the harshest conditions. WEW stainless fuel systems are approved for operation between –45°C and +80°C. Apart from the classic logistics modes (road, rail and sea), most WEW systems also carry IATA/ICAO approvals.

service life. Optional features include power pack, chlorination, UV, double-pressure pump, filter/water separator, mixing and heating/cooling systems. WEW water systems can be used not only for transport, but also for storage and water quality preservation in deployment areas.

WEW delivery systems offer “Drop & Go” fuel stations anywhere in the world. WEW’s patented double-shell design is instantly deployed with no time-consuming and costly preparation in forward deployment areas. WEW holds a strong market share with more than 2,000 military fuel and water systems in service.

Ultra-safe Multimodal Transport & Storage Solutions

WEW tank containers for transport and storage are used for liquid food, chemicals and gases with approval for more than 2,000 substances. From desert dust to the extremes of Antarctica, WEW tank systems are catering for the safe transport and storage of fuel.

Alternative tank designs, such as quad-, tri- and bi-cons, as well as and non-ISO purpose build solutions are used in the mining, offshore and chemical industries.

WEW tank containers are designed and built to sustain the harshest, dustiest, hottest and coldest of conditions worldwide. In over 40 years of service in this industry, we have encountered no significant design failures.
