    Sub: Cyclonic Storm, HUDHUDover southeast Bay of Bengal,Cyclone Warning for Andaman & Nicobar Islands andCyclone Alert for north coastal Andhra Pradesh & south Odisha coasts.

    The Cyclonic Storm HUDHUD over southeast Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestward and

    lay centered at 2330 hrs IST of 8th October 2014 near latitude 13.2N and longitude 90.2E about 890

    km southeast of Gopalpur and 900 km east-southeast of Visakhapatnam. The system would continueto move west-northwestwards, intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during next 12 hours and

    into a very severe cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours. The system would cross north Andhra

    Pradesh and south Odisha coasts between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur around noon of 12th

    October 2014.

    Warning for Andaman & Nicobar Islands

    (i) Heavy rainfall warning: Under the influence of the system, rainfall at many places with heavy

    to very heavy rainfall at isolated places would occur over Andaman & Nicobar Island during

    next 12 hours.

    (ii) Wind warning: Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting into 70 kmph would prevail

    in and around Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 12 hours.

    (iii) Sea condition: Sea condition around Andaman and Nicobar islands will be high during next

    12 hours.

    (iv) Damage expected over Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Damage to thatched huts. Breaking

    of tree branches causing minor damage to power and communication lines.

    (v) Action suggested:Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Andaman

    and Nicobar Islands during next 24 hours.

    Warning for north Andhra Pradesh coast and south Odisha

    (i) Heavy rainfall warning: Under the influence of the system, rainfall at most places with heavy

    (6.5 12.4 cm) to very heavy falls (12.5 24.4 cm) at a few places and isolated extremely

    heavy falls ( 24.5 cm)would occur over south Odisha from 11th evening onwards. Rainfall

    would occur at most places with heavy rainfall to very heavy rainfall at a few places would also

    commence over Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram. Srikakulam districts of north coastal Andhra

    Pradesh and districts of north coastal Odisha during the same period.

    (ii) Wind warning: Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph would

    commence along and off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts from 11th morning

    onwards. The wind speed would increase to 130-140 kmph gusting to 150 kmph from 12th

    morning.

    (iii) Sea condition along and off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts: Sea

    condition would be rough to very rough from 11 th morning. It would gradually become

    phenomenal from 12thmorning onwards.

    (iv) Damage expected: : Under the influence of system, extensive damage to kutcha houses.Partial disruption of power and communication lines. Minor disruption of rail and road traffic.

    Potential threat from flying debris. Flooding of escape routes.

    (v) Action suggested:Suspension of fishing operations in area of influence of cyclone. Judicious

    regulation of aviation, navigation, rail and road traffic. People in affected areas to remain at

    safe places around landfall period.

    The next bullet in w il l be issued at 0530 hrs IST of 9thOcto ber, 2014.
