Foundry for Sustainable Energy

 The Foundry for sustainable Energy Seminar

was held on the 3rd August 2013 at the School

of Metallurgical Engineering, Suranaree

University of Technology, in co-operation with

the Thai Foundry Association (TFA). The free

seminar topics included:

• Direction of the TFA towards AEC by Mr.Wiboolyos

Ammartayakul (The director of TFA)

• Energy Reserve Policies for Thai Foundry Industries by

Dr. Rattana Borisutthikul (SUT)

• Recycling of moulding sands by Dr. Sarum Boonmee

(SUT)

• Additives Engineering for Thai Foundry Industries by

Mr.Aoongkarn Chantarasukkaseam (Speed 3D Mold

Ltd.)

• Energy Reserve Techniques for Thai Foundry Industries

by Mr.Kittipong Akkarawiset (Heatbuster Ltd.)

• Application of Simulation Software for Gating Designs

by Mr.Surachet Santaweekul (I In Engineernig Ltd.)

Three grants have been given to three of our students who have involved in the

undergraduate student foundry engineering projects: Miss Jenjira Lertpornprasith,

Mr. Letrit Chuencharoen and Mr. Sattaya Wanrahas. One grant has been awarded

to Mr. Ronnachi Jadudom, a postgraduate student.

Metallurgy Crosswords 2013

Metallurgy Crosswords has been carried on

for the 5th time. The competition allowed all

undergraduate and graduate students

participate the event in order to practice their

technical English. Crosswords and games

were introduced to set the winners in 2013

through four rounds of crosswords games.

Khwanchanok Pimpetch, the 4th year

student, has got the new experience in

 Japan as an exchanged student in the

Fatigue Group, Mechnaical Enigneering

Department, Nagaoka University of 

Technology during January – April 2013.

Learning in the laboratory helped her to

gain practice and skills. Her research topic

concerned with high temperature fatigue

of stainless steel has also shown a great

potential. Moreover, she has learned the

 way the Japanese work and study hard!

 Apart from her laborious works, she also hasgreat opportunities to explore Japan in her new 

dimensions. This is for examples: the ski trip at

 Joetsu-Shi, Temples and etc. Most of all, the

 Japanese delicacies are always the best!!
