Origins

For 40 years, ISPO – primarily through its Member Societies(MS) – has provided an effective platform for the exchangeand communication on all aspects of the science andpractice associated with the provision of prosthetic andorthotic care, rehabilitation engineering and related

areas.

Learn – Education - Evaluation

ISPO

• develops and helps implement education and trainingcurricula (Cat I, II, III) (in collaboration with WHO)

• evaluates educational programs and associatedprofessional pathways offered by schools and traininginstitutions around the world.

• compiles and reviews practice standards for P&Oprofessionals through education symposia, curriculumupdating, material and product evaluation andclassification.

Support

ISPO supports resource poor countries of the world byempowering P&O professionals and local rehabilitationworkers via community based rehabilitation (CBR)strategies.

Activities include:

- training of local P&Os and rehabilitation personnel,

- support to persons with disabilities and the widercommunity regarding treatment, preparation for the fittingand use of P&O devices, reintegration of patients intosociety.

• Bids are submitted

• Proposals are reviewed

• ISPO makes decision

• Member Society must fulfill ISPO requirements
