A summary of the common terminology used by the Lighting Designer to reinforce a shared language between the Designer, Head Electrician and Lighting Console Operator.

Friday 3rd May Book’s exploring:

• Moby Dick (MOMENT)• The Great Gatsby (Downtown LA, hyped, gangster)• The Outsiders• The Notebook (not so big transition)• 50 Shades of Grey (MOMENT- sex dungeon crump robotic dance)• Of Mice and Men (MOMENT)

Follows the boys (characters) own lives, and the events at their book club as they explore these books

Lots of transitions between moments - which they want to explore

Want a table on the set, on wheels that moves around - transformer table, will need to be lit at some point. Potentially removing OP wall from set

What the characters are all about: Fetu - secrets and sexuality Albert - women and image Denzel - being a good man, and what that means Jacob - change and driven by future Luis- friendship and mental health Izzy - second chances and redemption Darius (new character) - privilege of young men in Aus

Lighting: - During the transitions: “all of the colours and all of the things”, quick, fast- During the exploring the books moments: heightened reality, pushed to limits- During the dialogue scenes: reality, general washes, simplistic- During the rap scenes (the ‘numbers’): think lots of light, think concert, colour, big lightshowCONTRAST

Friday 10th May Haze was flagged by Ari and potential of using that as an effect in conjunction with the movers/beams - particularly when colour is used.

together. To tell the stories of a brotherhood. Stories are what continue to bring us together. The indigenous people of this land did so, past, present, future, and now that are here, we have a duty to uphold this. To show respect, to pay respect, to acknowledge. Perspective,

unity, understanding. Brotherhood is being able to trust and connect. Brothers always have each other’s back. A collective, a family, a lifestyle. I love you brother.

potentially pump for moby dick and 50 shades. Will experiment in tech rehearsals
