MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY SYNOPSIS

Olaf “Gunn” Gunnunderson, an out-and-proud gay college student, is done with finals and ready for Christmas break. He says goodbye to his boyfriend Nathan Stanford and makes his way back home for the holidays. Still in the dark about their son’s sexuality, Gunn’s parents (Anya and Sven) invite over his high school sweetheart, Abby Mancuso, in an effort to fix him up. Gunn manages to get through the ordeal when Nathan shows up at their doorstep unannounced. Nathan is shocked to learn that Gunn is not out to his family, but he agrees to put on a charade for the parents until Gunn is ready to tell them the truth.

The boys stumble through a series of close calls and almost-outings, navigating their way through minefields such as holiday shopping with mom and a Christmas party at the neighbors. They each try to gauge what the parents know or suspect, while Abby, being far less innocent than she seems, catches on right away and becomes the boy’s new best friend. As the family grows closer to Nathan and more inquisitive about his personal life, Gunn must decide if he’s ready to come out before the truth does.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

I love Christmas movies. Maybe it’s the inevitable happy endings, maybe it’s the sense of hope and wonder they provide, maybe it’s just blatant wish fulfillment of seeing loving families around the Christmas tree. Whatever the reason, I love them, and that’s the main reason I wrote and directed Make The Yuletide Gay. The fact that there are so few gay-themed Christmas movies also made me want to create something new, something that gay youth could watch with their parents during the holidays. I especially wanted to create a film which showed a coming-out process that wasn’t traumatic or violent, but encouraging and full of love and support. And if you can throw in a cheesehead and Kelly Keaton’s adorable Wisconsin accent, all the better! As one character says in the movie, “We all want to be what our parents want us to be, and we all hide things from them.” Maybe a gay teenager will see this movie and decide not to hide his true self from his parents, and maybe he’ll find out that they love him no matter what. You couldn’t ask for a better Christmas wish than that.

Soon after, he landed a role in the film Suburban Girl, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alec Baldwin.

Now a full-time resident of Los Angeles, Jordan continues to focus his acting career in film and television. Since relocating to Los Angeles, he has enjoyed growing success in the industry, including securing the role of Superman's Jimmy Olsen in a viral Internet marketing campaign for the Six Flags theme parks, as well as the lead role in the new feature film, Make The Yuletide Gay.

ADAMO RUGGIERO Nathan Stanford Adamo Ruggiero is an experienced actor and host. He began his career in Community Theatre at a very young age. In 1996, he landed his first professional job as Cupid in Stage West’s Christmas production of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” In 2000, he was accepted to Cawthra Park Secondary School (a performing arts school in Mississauga) where Adamo played leading roles in “Godspell,” “Carnival,” “Auntie Mame” and “The Bath” as well as directed “Sure

Thing” by playwright David Ives for the Ontario’s SEARS Drama festival. In 2002, Adamo landed his first professional television job, premiering in the second season of “Degrassi: The Next Generation” as Marco Del Rossi. Throughout his seven years on the show, his role as a gay teenager has garnered much attention. In 2004, Degrassi received its first GLAAD Media Awards nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for Adamo’s starring episodes entitled “Pride” (part 1 & 2). In January 2008, Adamo “came out” as a young gay actor in an exclusive TV interview with eTalk and a cover story in Fab, Canada’s premiere gay scene magazine. In an attempt to share his story with other struggling gay youth, he has lent his name to The Trevor Project (an organization that helps suicidal gay and questioning youth) where he shot an international PSA alongside Roseanne Barr, T.R. Knight, Kristin Davis, John Goodman and Neil Patrick Harris. He also produced and starred in a PSA for the “Report Homophobic Violence, Period” (RHVP) campaign for Toronto’s 2008 Pride Festival.

Page 11: MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY PRODUCTION NOTEStlareleasing.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/MakeYuletideGay.pdf · make the yuletide gay a guest house films llc production a rob williams film

Adamo’s next project takes him to the live stage! In March 2009, he will star in the Toronto premiere of “Dog Sees God: Confession of a Teenage Blockhead” --- a modern adaptation of the iconic Peanuts comic strips. Adamo plays Van (Linus), the pot head, girl obsessed yet insightful best friend of C.B. (Charlie Brown). Adamo is also an experienced television host, having hosted/co-hosted such shows as the “MTV Hills After Show,” “Video on Trail,” “Canada’s Next Top Model,” the 22nd and 23rd annual Gemini Awards as well as hosted multiple stories on CTV’s hit entertainment show “eTalk.” Adamo most recently hosted the first season of YTV’s hit series “The Next Star” where he led the national search for Canada’s next young singing sensation. In between projects, Adamo is pursuing an honors double major degree at York University in Communication Studies and Film Theory. He hopes to venture into producing/directing in the future.

MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY PRODUCTION TEAM

ROB WILLIAMS BIO Rob Williams is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker, and co-owner of Guest House Films. With an impressive three movies under his belt (Long-Term Relationship, Back Soon and 3-Day Weekend), Rob is a determined professional within the gay film industry and recently completed production on a fourth film entitled Make the Yuletide Gay. Before launching his filmmaking career, Rob graduated from Texas Christian University with a BBA degree in Finance, and received an MBA in Marketing from the University of Texas. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he worked in public relations for more than a decade, specializing in writing, special event organization and video production, first within the agency world and then as a freelance consultant. Frustrated with the lack of creativity in the PR field, Rob began studying screenwriting at the Twin Bridges Screenwriting Salon, where he developed primarily “mainstream” scripts such as thrillers and horrors. But the script he received the greatest feedback on was the gay-themed romantic comedy, Long- Term Relationship. With the support of his long-time partner (and fellow screenwriter) Rodney Johnson, Rob approached good friend and acclaimed actor Matthew Montgomery with the script. Matthew’s immediate response was, “You need to make this film, and I need to star in it!” This quickly led to the creation of Guest House Films. The company started production on Long-Term Relationship in January 2006, and has made four films in less than three years, with Rob serving as writer, director and producer of all films. The movies have been screened at film festivals around the world, winning audience, jury and acting awards, and securing distribution deals in North America and foreign territories. Along with partner Rodney, Rob was named to Instinct Magazine’s “Leading Men of 2008” for their contributions to gay cinema. While he didn’t attend film school, Rob’s passion for movies was always present in his life, and it was his fascination with movies that he credits as the best sort of training for him. In addition, the tremendous amount of supportive feedback from viewers continues to fuel Rob’s creativity and his desire to keep making movies. Rob is currently developing a number of feature film projects for the future of Guest House Films, including a screen adaptation of Jim Tushinski’s novel, Van Allen’s Ecstasy, and is working on his first novel. Rob lives with his partner Rodney in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles.

RODNEY JOHNSON BIO Rodney Johnson created the production company Guest House Films with his life and business partner, Rob Williams. He also is an accomplished writer, having written the Lifetime Television movie “Queen Sized,” which starred Hairspray lead actress Nikki Blonsky and serving as story editor and associate producer on the cult hit Wasabi Tuna. In addition to a successful screenwriting career, he is the author of the “Rinnah Two Feathers” young adult mystery series. Rodney has served as producer of all four Guest House Films' productions (Long-Term Relationship, Back Soon, 3-Day Weekend and Make The Yuletide Gay). The movies have screened at film festivals around the world; winning audience, jury and acting awards, and securing distribution deals in North America and foreign territories. Along with partner Rob, Rodney was named to Instinct Magazine’s “Leading Men of 2008” for their contributions to gay cinema. Rodney is a member of the Writer's Guild of Canada, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and Mystery Writers of America where he serves on the national committee for MWA: Reads, MWA's national youth literacy program. He lives in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles and is hard at work writing screenplays, teleplays, pilots and his next young adult novel.

MATTHEW MONTGOMERY BIO With an artist for a father and role model, Matthew was immersed in the art world at a very young age, his surroundings consisting of his father’s gallery as well as his father’s peers including many actors, filmmakers, artists, and writers. He went on to study theater at the University of Southern California under the guidance of Eve Roberts where he was nicknamed “The Wonder Freshman,” as he was able to gain leading or supporting roles in nearly every theatre production that went on throughout the course of his studies there. From there he went on to study at Point Park Conservatory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania under an acting scholarship where, during his stay, obtained a role as Johnny Eck in the zombie short “Reign of the Dead,” which followed the George Romero zombie saga. Soon after relocating to Los Angeles, Matthew starred in his first feature film role as Mark Reeves in the Festival Favorite, Gone, But Not Forgotten, which played in over thirty film festivals around the world and was “Top Ten Best Seller” for TLA Video for 2003 and 2004. He went on to star as Marx in Daniel Lee’s Journeyman, which went on to receive Third Place Feature Film in the TwinRivers Multimedia Film Festival in Asheville, North Carolina.

Page 19: MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY PRODUCTION NOTEStlareleasing.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/MakeYuletideGay.pdf · make the yuletide gay a guest house films llc production a rob williams film

Following Journeyman, Matthew went on to co-produce and star as Glenn Phillips in Rob Williams’ gay romantic comedy, Long-Term Relationship, with Guest House Films LLC. Long-Term Relationship went on to quickly becoming a multiple award winning independent film, gaining notoriety and soon after was acquired by here! Films and Regent Releasing for a worldwide release in November of 2007. Matthew again co-produced and starred in Rob Williams’ second feature for Guest House Films, Back Soon, winning the Alternative Spirit Award at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2007 as well as Best Actor at FilmOut in San Diego. Back Soon has since been acquired by TLA Releasing and was released to DVD in April of 2008. In 2007 alone, Matthew starred in three feature films (Back Soon, Socket, and Fear House), produced two (Back Soon, and 3-Day Weekend), and made a cameo appearance in another. Then in 2008, he went on to star in two additional features: The Redwoods, written and directed by David Lewis and Pornography: A Thriller, written and directed by David Kittredge, both slated for a 2009 theatrical release. In December 2008, Matthew produced Guest House Films’ fourth feature film, Make the Yuletide Gay, now in post-production. With his acting described as “stellar” by TLA Releasing, and also currently named TLA’s favorite “out” actor, it’s assured that Matthew will continue to break into new ground in the film industry. Matthew Montgomery has been involved in over 12 films and counting.
