amazing race

course for runners

and walkers. Par-

ticipants may choose to run or

walk this challenging 5k course

through the vineyard. There will

be a kids 1/2 mile race following

the finish of the 5k run as well as a

100 yard dash for those age 6 and

under. Entry fees are Kids ½ mile

- $5 and the 5K Run is $25.Entry

MARIANNE TALLEY MEMORIAL 5K, 10K, 1-

MILE WALK, & KID’S MILE

All races are run on a cross country course of scenic

dirt roads and trails at Talley Vineyards, 3031 Lopez

Drive in Arroyo Grande.

Timing chips will be used for all 5K, 10K and, youth

runners.

Strawberries and other refreshments will be pro-

vided at the finish and there is a post-race raffle for

all participants along with awards for age group

place winners 3 deep in 14 divisions.

Proceeds go towards a scholarship fund in memory

of Marianne Talley for student athletes at Arroyo

Grande High School.

FEES; $35—5K run, 10K Run and 1-Mile Walk

$25—1 mile youth run (ages 13 and under) After

May 25 fees increase by $5.

Pre Registration packet pickup on Saturday June 2

from 12 –3 pm at Talley Vineyards. Race Day reg-

istration begins at 7:00 AM

No Guarantees for shirts after May 28th, for late reg-

KIDS RUN AND 3K RUN/WALK, LOMPOC,

1K Kid’s Run starts at 8:30 AM and 3K Run/

Walk at 9:00 AM. Start and finish in the Times

Square Plaza parking lot at 511 North “H” Street

next to PLUS Property Management. NOTE:

Start/Finish staging area and the shorter course

distance of this event due to changes in start area

of Parade floats/participants and hazards with the

course around the shopping center. Registration

starts at 7:30 AM. Pre-registration not required

but recommended for speedy check-in morning of

event. Parking available approximately ½ block

away in the Lompoc Plaza next to Vons’s Gas

Station located at North “H” & College Street.

Entry fee: $5 for 1 K Kids Run and $10 for Adult

Run/Walk ($2 discount for LVDC mem-

bers). Age category awards for the 1K Kids Run

are 5 and under, 6-8, and 9-11. Age categories in

the 3K Run are 12 and Under, 13-16, 17-19, 20-

24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-

59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79, and 80 Plus. Awards for

3K Walkers are 1st & 2nd Male & Female. Pur-

pose of event is to raise research funds and aware-

ness of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) - a life-threatening

genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive

system. More than 10 million Americans are

symptomless carriers of the defective gene. 100

Percent of entry fees will be donated in honor of

11-year-old Mallory Holloway. She was diag-

nosed with Cystic Fibrosis after her 2nd birthday.

This is the best old school 5k around - if you

wanna have fun, we've got that. If you wanna

run fast, we've got that too. A swift, fast, pictur-

esque course out and back 5k on fairly stunning

country roads. Accurate mile markers, water

station at turnaround where Ken and Rosemarie

greet the county's best and brightest. Registra-

tion includes a race shirt, great country breakfast

and the best raffle/awards ceremony in Amer-

ica. Top 3 in 9 age group divisions receive mer-

chandise awards. Top 3 Overall men and

women receive Running Warehouse gift cards

($100 for 1st, $50 for 2nd, $25 for 3rd). First

masters receives a $50 Gift Card. $100 cash for

- 8:15 AM on 7/4/18 in front of the Pozo Saloon

(90 West Pozo Rd, Pozo CA).

Race starts promptly at 8:30 AM. Breakfast and

awards begin once the last finisher completes the

race.

It's probably a good idea to bring a folding

chair. Additional breakfasts and shirts may be

purchased race day. Only cash or checks ac-

cepted race day.

be back at Elings

Park this year due to

the rave reviews from

2017! Enjoy the sce-

nic trails with epic

views of the Channel Islands. Bring the whole fam-

ily with a 15K, 5K, Dog 1.5K AND pancake break-

fast. Patriotic attire recommended for all, dogs

too! Hikers and walkers are welcome for the 5K and

1.5K Dog Dash.

Post Race food will be a Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast

from 9:00-10:30am (free for race participants, $8 for

spectators). Proceeds from the event will benefit the

Dos Pueblos, San Marcos and Santa Barbara High

School XC teams along with Elings Park trail main-

Course Description All three races will take in some of Elings Park’s

great singletrack trails. Short, character-building

climbs will be rewarded with incredible views of the

Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands and Downtown

Santa Barbara. This is a true trail race experience

with ribbons and chalk marking the course. There

will be water available on the course. Looking for a

flat road course? This is not the event for

you. Hoping to have an incredible morning with

fellow runners on a fun new course? You will not be

disappointed!

their efforts to expand, develop, and maintain trails

located at:5800 S Bradley Rd, Orcutt, CA 93455.

The 5k and 10k events will both start at 9am. Fees:

5K—$25, 10K—$35. Packet pickup will be avail-

able starting at 8am. Parking is available in the

park but is limited. Additional parking is available

on Sagecrest Road at the entrance to the park.To

reduce our impact and minimize waste this will be

a cupless event. Water will be available on the

SATURDAY, JULY 14, 2018. 8:30 AM –

BRIAN WATERBURY ROCK TO PIER RUN

10K & ROCK AROUND THE PIER HALF

MARATHON. MORRO BAY, CA

Named in memory of Brian Waterbury who origi-

nated the race in 1970, this 10K (now in its 49th

running)goes along the beach from the start at the

rock in Morro Bay to the finish at the pier in Cayu-

cos. Fees for the 10K is $35 plus $3 sign up fee.

The price increases to $40 after June 15, 2018. and

to $45 after June 30th. Participants will be bussed

back to the rock for breakfast and awards ceremo-

nies.Registration will open on April 30. Awards

will be given to the top three finishers in 15 age

divisions from 10 & under to 80 & over. Also the

Rock'n Around the Pier Half Marathon will be in

its 7th year. This 13.1 mile event is held on the

hard packed sand with a challenging trip through

soft sand to a 1 mile loop on a paved path (at 10.5

miles) return to the beach through the soft sand to

the finish line at Morro Rock. Due to the tide,

this course will close at 3 hours.. The half mara-

thon is open to the first 300 participants. The fee

for the Half is $75 plus $4.50 sign up fee. The

fees increase to $85 on June 16 and to $95 on June

· The Location of this event is the Pismo Beach

Pier. The Address is 101 Pomeroy Avenue Pismo

This 5K race begins at 8:30 AM, with onsite regis-

tration only, from 7:15 AM-8:15 AM. Entry fees

will be $15 without a race shirt and $25 with one.

Shirts will be available for the first 120 racers, upon

request. The course will be marked on the hard

packed sand, starting and ending at the Pismo

Beach Pier. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be

awarded to the top three men and women ages 12 &

under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60

-69, 70-79, & 80+. This event is conducted by the

San Luis Distance Club. For more information,

The race begins at 9:00 a.m. at Ramona Garden

Park Center 993 Ramona Avenue and traverses

city streets, beach boardwalk and hard and soft

packed sand. Cost of the event is $25 prior to

August 17, 2018 and $30 after that date. An

awards ceremony will immediately follow the

end of the race. 1st and 2nd place medals will be

awarded for all age and gender categories. You

can register on line or register on the day of the

event starting at 7:00 AM. The online registra-

tion link is not available at this time. I will post

it when it becomes active.

“GUESS YOUR TIME”

A LVDC Challenge Event and Brunch Potluck

Distance: 2.46 miles

Where: La Purisima Mission at Tule Village

Date and Time: June 10, Promptly at 10:00 a.m.

Check in starts at 9:30 at Tule Village

Course: Lower Loop – starting and ending at the

Tule Village

Potluck: at the Tule Village. Bring a dish to share whether you participate in

the challenge event or not. Bring your own utensils.

Fee: FREE – NO REGISTRATION FEE

The Rules: NO watch or timing device (including cell phones, Fit Bits, MP3 players, etc); no excep-

tions A race monitor will record your predicted distance time prior to the start Friends and family of LVDC members are welcome if they want to participate in the event

or plan to volunteer.

OBJECTIVE:

To come close to your predicted finish time without going over your predicted

time. And to have fun!!!!

NOTE: when crossing the finish line, listen for your time—you will need it.

You will be handed a 3” X 5” card on which you will record your name and

time and then turned in.

PRIZES: A fun prize will be awarded to the winner.
