Flowers Half-Marathon &

5K successfully con-

cluded on Sunday, Sep-

tember 16th. Thanks to

the many LVDC members

and community volun-

teers the event was suc-

cessfully staged for the

10th year at the La Puri-

sima Mission State His-

torical Park. Course Boy

Scouts, costumed water/

aid station volunteers, and

young family members of

registered participants

were some of them.

Shirt design, awards, course

markings, Mission coordination,

pre-registration, and Finish Line

equipment required many hours of

LVDC members. Thank you all

for the awesome support!

Lastly, volunteers are needed for

the annual Lizard Breath Fence

Get out your running shoes and

start preparing for the 22nd an-

nual City to the Sea point-to-

point half marathon, which

starts in America’s Happiest

City – San Luis Obispo, CA,

and ends in the beautiful coastal

town of Pismo Beach. Run

through historic downtown,

backroads, and towns of SLO

and Pismo.The Half starts at

7:00 AM and the cost is $80

Seaside 5k

The City to the Sea event is

family-friendly, and we want

everyone to participate. If 13.1

miles is not your preferred dis-

tance, you’ll love our 5k race

(3.1 miles), which takes place in

beautiful Pismo Beach. Starting

at Dinosaur Caves Park, run

along the coastline and through

neighborhoods then enjoy the

festival after. The 5K starts at

7:30 AM and the cost is $35

Kids Fun Run.

¼ mile Fun Run f or kids ages

10 and under, which runs

around the perimeter of Dino-

saur Caves park in Pismo

Beach. All finishers will re-

ceive a race bib and a fun prize.

The Kids Run starts at 8:30 and

the cost is $5.

PURISIMA MISSION.

A new course awaits runners this

year at La Purisima Mission

State Historic Park, with color

stations sprinkled throughout a

rural running trail. Runners and

walkers, families and teams will

enjoy this festive and active

event in a historic and wide open

location.

After the Colorthon, take time to

explore California’s most com-

pletely restored Spanish mission,

set on scenic 1,934 acres, with 10

renovated buildings, an interac-

tive educational visitor’s center,

a gift shop, livestock and gar-

dens.

Lompoc is located on the Central

Coast, not far from the ocean and

nestled among the growing wine

region of the Sta. Rita Hills. The

Foundation Colorthon this year is

just east of downtown, where

there are also plenty of activities

to fill out your weekend.

Proceeds from the Colorthon

will help fund the Foundation’s

capital campaign to renovate the

Comprehensive Care Center, a

skilled nursing and rehabilitation

facility of the Lompoc Valley

Medical Center. Individual $40,

-MILE FUN RUN AND 3.5-MILE WALK, LA

PURISIMA MISSION, LOMPOC.

Approximately seven and a half miles, sandy and

hilly, or 3.5 mile walk. Very

scenic for those who enjoy

that. Very tough for those

who are looking for a chal-

lenge. Meat for the ultra

marathoner, but not recom-

mended for someone who is

either A) not familiar with the

terrain or B) not in very good

shape. No whiners al-

lowed. You will sign a

waiver, Bubba. Registration

at the Chumash Village under

the big oaks towards the

blacksmith shop. Signups

start at 9 AM; with the run/

walk starting at 10

This is the 19th annual running of the original Santa Barbara Thanksgiving Day 4-Miler. The flat and

fast course stands apart from many of the local run courses with a start down Hollister Avenue to Turn-

pike leading to a stretch along the bike path and then winding through neighborhood streets to the finish

at Thunderbird Park (on Walnut Avenue just off Hollister Avenue).

Online registration closes 10am, Tuesday morning, Nov. 21. Packet pickup/Late registration Wednes-

day, Nov. 22, 1-4pm at a location to be determined and Thursday, Nov. 23 morning 7:15a.m to 8:45 a.m

at Thunderbird Park. Race starts at 9:00am.

Event details and schedule

The run starts at 9:00am. Day of race registration will begin at 7:15am in Thunderbird Park on Walnut

Avenue just north of Hollister Avenue. Late registration (Wed. and Thurs.) is $35.00. Please regis-

ter early to ensure getting a race shirt. Cash or check only for late registration.

Race parking is available at the rear/right of the Magnolia Shopping center (please do not park near the

entrance of Ralph's as they are open for business) and in the rear parking lot of the Episcopal Church

just East of the Walnut/Hollister intersection.

SANTA - TOYS FOR TOTS 5K RUN/WALK, KIDS

Chase Santa for 3.1 miles around the one mile fitness

trail at River Park. Kids will chase Santa for 1K. Entry

fee is $5 plus an unwrapped $10 + toy for the Toys for

Tots program in the Lompoc Valley. Registration is the

day of the event, starting at 8 AM; the chase starts at 9

AM. Awards will be presented to the top two finishers in

each age category. Awards to the first place overall fe-

male and male. First five runners who beat Santa win a

TANA DE ORO STAATE PARK. LOS OSOS.

Fees: 5 mi - $40, 8 mi - $40, 25 Km - $50, 50 Km - $65

Montaña de Oro State Park, The park is six miles southwest of Morro bay and seven miles south of

Los Osos on Pecho Road. Latitude/Longitude: 35.2639 / -120.8622

Enjoy views of rugged cliffs, sandy beaches and vast expanse of the ocean at the "Mountain of Gold".

The 5 mile course has minimal climbing and runs along the bluff. For sweeping views of the ocean and

inland mountains, try the 8 mile course that brings you up the 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. The 25 km

course consists of two loops, the 8 mi route and then head out to the 1076-foot grassy summit of Hazard

Peak. Not enough climbing? Complete the 25 Km route twice for a 50 Km day!

(Distances are accurately measured using a Rolatape® surveyor's measuring wheel.)

Bib Number & Shirt Pick-Up—7:00 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. at Spooner's Cove.

Aid Stations:

Fully-stocked aid stations every 5 - 8 miles. You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy,

water, and Clif Shot Electrolyte sports drink. It is highly recommended that runners carry at least 20 oz.

High Tech shirts will be given to all pre-registered runners. Award medals are given to the 1st female and

male finishers overall and top three finishers in each age group. All finishers will receive a custom

medal and 50 Km finishers will also receive a custom coaster
