Light Opera of New Jersey (LONJ) is a premier operetta, opera and musical theater

company founded in 1995.

LONJ is dedicated to presenting the treasures of musical theater and light opera with

professional caliber performers, musicians and production teams.

LONJ founders, Bill Corson and Lauran Fulton Corson are the Executive Director and Artistic

Director respectively.

LONJ is managed by an active Board of Directors and Board of Trustees which oversee the current

and ongoing plans for the organization.

Light Opera of New Jersey is a registered non-profit 501(c)3 performing arts organization

currently based in Basking Ridge, NJ.

We provide enrichment to a wide range of audiences, casting local talent of all ages alongside seasoned

professionals.

Through our work, we strive to keep these

superb genres vibrant for future generations.

For more than 20 years LONJ has presented over 80 productions highlighting the repertoire of

Gilbert & Sullivan, Sigmund Romberg, Mozart,

Offenbach and others, as well as many Broadway composers.

We also reach out to communities that might not otherwise experience

these performing arts.

LONJ began its tradition of high quality theater productions with the annual September Song, fea-turing a full Gilbert & Sullivan or other prominent operetta selection, accompanied with highlights of Broadway shows.

In the years that followed, LONJ expanded to fully costumed and orchestrated opera and operettas, most recently The Magic Flute and Orpheus in the Underworld and the holiday tradition, Amahl and the Night Visitors.

LONJ also brings music to many communities through their outreach troupes called Savoy Faire.

These groups of highly talented professionals and amateurs travel to community centers, libraries, arts

centers and schools.

This all volunteer troupe engages their audiences, be they young or senior, in

fostering a love for the performing arts. They’ve received accolades throughout

New Jersey for their lively performances.

As Light Opera of New Jersey focuses on the future, we strive to provide outstanding opportunities, recruit

emerging artists and reach out to new audiences with new works as well as classics.
