Lessons Learnt Part 7

May 2016The Soft issues

Page 2: Lessons learnt part 7

Introduction• Some lessons learned are soft related issues,

related to communications, project structure, responsibilities

• These issues maybe the more complex to resolve.

Page 3: Lessons learnt part 7

• Clear communication of Roles and TasksRoles each person had to take was not made clear from day

one.Give distinct roles and tasks to people and ensure they are

clear on what their role is. Preferably use one point of contact- Also make clear who are sub contractors are and what they are doing

• Different Persons leading "micro systems" (communication)

The information had to be directed to one person who leads all the team.

• Lack of proactive information resulted in more fire fighting during execution

Key persons were not always clear on what was down to ESI and what was not.

Planning & communication time is a must More information needs to flow in both ways, up > down and

down > up.Before certain instructions/decisions are taken key persons

may need to be involved.one cannot take it forgranted that every one knows what he

knows

Supervisor/Assistant need to discuss with the help of Saa, to try and get more feedback as other tentative were futile.

• Finished job at MAU is not of the same standard as that of previous jobs at MDH

This was due to many factors, such as time factor was too short at all stages, lack of experience of ESI employees (eg on bottom cable entry), sub contractors did not carry out the job to the usual ESI standard

the difference between a well done job and an excellent job is that the latter needs the proper time, good communication, and willing experienced personnel
