Monday

May Holiday!

Tuesday Writing – Try creating a wanted Poster for a horrible Pirate who has stolen all of our class treasure from our treasure chest. Please see example of a wanted poster below. Include; Pirates name, Why the Pirate is wanted? And the reward for their capture. Tip – If you like you could try staining your paper by dabbing the paper with the tea bag or by dipping a paintbrush into the tea and brushing it onto the paper.

Wednesday Grammar – Last week you were asked to think of some common nouns. This week, I would like you to write 5 sentences that include a common noun and an adjective. Colour the adjective red and the common noun blue (if possible). Remember to start your sentence with a capital letter and end it with a full stop. Eg. The small and furry cat was sitting on the fluffy blanket. Spelling – Use the active spelling strategy LaSaCaWaC (Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check) to practise your words this week. on, but, plum, quick, quiz, queen, squid, to, do, squirrel. *Challenge* Use two of your spelling words in a sentence.

Thursday Reading - Read for enjoyment – You could try and find a book relating to our new ‘pirates’ topic. I have assigned some books on Epic!

Handwriting - Make sure you are sitting comfortably with both feet on the floor. Hold your pencil correctly and ensure your paper is straight on the desk in front of you. Write these common words out 4 times each. ‘one, by, only, old, like, have’ Remember to take care with the sizing of your letters and ensure all words sit on the line.

Friday Writing – Write a descriptive sentence about your week at home or email me a sentence about your week at home! Spelling test – Try getting someone at home to ask you your spelling words. How many did you get?

Mathematic and Numeracy Tasks How did you get on?

Monday

May Holiday !

Tuesday Times Tables Write out the 2 times table and practise saying it. You could even try making a multiplication flower like the one below. Try your times table practise on https://www.sumdog.com

Wednesday Revise addition stories to 12 What 2 numbers add together to make 12? Lay this out in jotter like: 0 + 12 = 12 1 + 11 = 12… Remember 1 number in each square. Once you have completed this in your jotter, begin to go over them without looking. How many stories can you remember?

Thursday Time Keep a diary today. Make a note of the time when you wake up, eat lunch, eat dinner, go to bed. Add as many activities as you like. Try to write each time in as many ways as you can Eg. Wake up = 08:15 / 8.15am/ quarter past 8 in the morning. Try out some fun maths activities https://www.sumdog.com

Friday Mental Maths This YouTube video Mental Strategies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWE2AzEsgU4 very clearly explains several methods used during mental maths. Continue with the ‘Counting on’ method from last week. This is when you look at a sum and put the biggest number first. This can be repeated for any addition up to 20. The more the process is repeated, the easier the children will find it. Try using this strategy for the games and challenges set on sumdog.
