August 20, 2015 Dear Summit Families, Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! I am delighted that your children are here and ready to learn. I’m so sorry I missed the chance to visit with many of you due to our Welcome Back Picnic being canceled because of severe weather. I look forward to seeing you at our Curriculum Night, next Thursday, August 27 at 6:00 PM. This evening is for parents to learn about the specific programs that are being used in your child’s class and how you can support your child. We expect our students to care about others, work hard, and have fun at school. Childhood is for remembering; therefore, we want to make the six plus hours a day your children are at school as positive and memorable as possible. We want them to feel proud of their accomplishments and be willing to take risks when things are hard. As you read this, you may be thinking we want the same things you want for your children. And that is how it should be because together, parents/guardians, students, and staff make for a strong Summit Family. A few reminders to start off the year: Our Curriculum Night will be on August 27th (More details are within the Echo) Students should arrive at school no earlier than 8:40 a.m., unless they will be eating breakfast. In which case, students may arrive at 8:30 a.m. and enter through the cafeteria door on the west side of the building. There are many opportunities to get involved and we welcome the presence of parents, relatives, and community members in our building. Please consider joining one of our community groups: Parent Teacher Community Organization (PTCO), Partnerships for Academically Successful Students (PASS), or Student Accountability Committee (SAC). We look forward to a great year!! Warmly, Rachel Rubio Principal …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Dear Summit Families,

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!

A few reminders to start off the year:

Our Curriculum Night will be on August 27th (More details are within the Echo)

Students should arrive at school no earlier than 8:40 a.m., unless they will be eating breakfast.

Warmly,

Rachel Rubio Principal

Notes from the Nurse

Hi Summit Parents and Families: I am Jackie Rauch, the nurse at Summit Elementary. I am keeping busy in the clinic keeping our kids safe and healthy! Come see me or call me with questions or health concerns about your children.

A Few Important Reminders:

If your child is new to Summit, I need a copy of their immunization records in the clinic. If they are not new to Summit but have received shots over the summer, I need their shot records as well.

If your child needs to take any prescription or over the counter medication at

school, a consent form needs to be filled out by you AND your child’s doctor.

Any prescription medication must be in a pharmacy-labeled container. You can get this form from me at the clinic and on the Summit Elementary website under

Nurse’s Notes, Medication Permission Form. By Colorado law, I cannot give medication to your child without having this form filled out.

Cherry Creek School District follows the Children’s Hospital Illness Policy. “How Sick Is Too Sick?” is a great resource that will help you decide when to keep your child home from school. Fever, vomiting, and diarrhea are always reasons to keep your child at home. A child with fever, vomiting, and diarrhea

MUST stay home for at least 24 hour after the last un-medicated fever, or episode of

vomiting or diarrhea. The full document is also on the website under Nurse’s Notes, When to Keep a Child Home. You can also get this form from me in the clinic. As always, you can call me in the clinic or stop by with concerns.

We are going to start the year out with a bang. Vision screening starts September

10 and Hearing screening starts September 16. As always, no news is good news. If there is a concern about your child’s vision or hearing, you will hear from me.

I always need donations of used pants for our students. I need any size of boy pants and preschool through 3rd grade sized girls pants.

It is still summer out there. Make sure your kids stay healthy by having them drink plenty of water throughout the day and have them use sunscreen when in the sun.

Thank you.
