A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

I want to take a moment to remind you that this is the last newsletter of the year 2017. I hope you have enjoyed reading all of the newsletters published this year, or just browsing through them. I appreciate any contributions of articles and/or photos that you send to me and I’m sorry that all of them cannot be published due to lack of space or missed deadlines. I try my best to present an informative and appealingpublication for you, the members. Thank you all for your support.

And now, I want to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas and a Glorious New Year.

Judy Pendergast, Publications VP

It’s hard to believe it’s already November and the holidays are right around the corner. How time flies when you are having fun touring in our old rides. The end of the year brings a couple of our most popular events.

December 2nd is the Boulder City Parade of Lights. We took 1st place in this event last year. It would be nice to follow up that way again. This is a fun evening event that winds through classic Boulder City with a great crowd of onlookers. Come out, decorate your cars, dress up (Not as Santa or Mrs. Clause please) and have a great time. This is a great event to bring your kids/grandkids to.

After the parade Ed and Joyce Burke open up their beautiful home for Chili and snacks. The Chili is top notch and so perfect for a cool Nevada night. You don’t have to attend the parade to go to their house but I think Chili tastes better after a cold car ride. For the gearheads, like me, Ed’s garage (man cave) is worth the trip.

December 5th is our annual Christmas party. The committee has worked hard on this and it’s always a good time. Remember payments must be in by December 1st so they can give the venue a head count.

December also is the last month I will be serving as president. The past two years has been a lot of fun and I would like to thank all of the members who have supported the club. To everyone who hosted/assisted with events I thank you. To the board members I thank you as well. Everyone deserves a pat on the back for a job well done!

Special thanks go to Judy Pendergast who’s worked so hard as secretary and managed to keep me in line!

John

ORGANIZATION HISTORYHIGH ROLLERS CHAPTER VMCCA, INC.

On March 16, 1979, we received our Charter from the Veteran Motor Car Club ofAmerica (VMCCA) as the southern Nevada Chapter. Rich Blum was the foundingPresident who served until April 1980 at which time he was transferred to Arizona.

Succeeding presidents have been: Clyde Baker (3 terms); Russ Hallet; Paul Pond; DonBrown (2 terms); Morris McGaughey (2 terms); Art Foote (3 terms); Gene Donley(7 terms); Sam Kephart; Doug Crowe; Steve Barsuk (2 terms); Nadine Baker (2 terms);Don Nisley: Rick Hanna; Bill Carpenter (2 terms); Skip Yarema (2 terms); GaryWeaver (1 term); John Pendergast (4 terms); John Munoz (2 terms).

Our chapter was part of the Bonneville Region until October 3, 1987 when the WesternRegion was formed and approved by the VMCCA. The Western Region also included achapter that is now defunct, the Pahrump Classics Chapter.

On November 15, 1994, the club was incorporated as a Non-Profit Corp. under a newname, High Rollers of Southern Nevada Chapter. This filling did not meet therequirement of the IRS.

During 2003, it was determined to be in our best interests to dissolve the Corp. and forma new Corp. with new By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation. Effective December 1,2003, we were approved as a Nevada non-profit corporation under the name of HighRoller Chapter VMCCA, Inc. Arthur Foote was the Resident Agent at the time. TheCorp. is organized exclusively as a nonprofit within the meaning of section 501 (c) 7 ofthe IRS Code as it pertains to hobby organizations

After filing for a new Federal Tax I.D. number, we then filed form 8718, “User Fee forExempt Organization Determination Letter Request”, and then Form 1024,“Application for recognition of Exemption” under Section 501 (a) as well as a numberof requests for information. We were finally approved on May 4, 2004.

Form 990-EZ, “Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax” for 2003 and also2004 was filed. We also have been approved, to be exempted from filing future FederalIncome Tax Returns as long as our annual income is less than $25,000 and meet certainother requirements.
