All winners received a letter about the Award’s Night at Jerry Ross on March 27 at 6:00 and the event at the Crown Point Public Library over Spring Break. A special thanks to Melissa Laud for her efforts to take on this worthwhile fundraiser. We had a great week of reading and celebrating Dr. Seuss’s Birthday. The Cat in the Hat paid us a visit last Friday, many students participated in the AR testing competition reading from “Coast to Coast”, and some of our classes had “Green Eggs and Ham” to finish off this great week of READING. “Let’s read the most from coast to coast…not the least from west to east” courtesy of Mrs. Pociask. Second graders got to experience “life cycles” as they became scientists this week with their discoveries of hatching chicks and tending to their needs as the babies made their way into this world. With all these spring type celebrations and learning opportunities, could SPRING be around the corner…let’s hope! Please see the ISTEP+ and IREAD testing windows below. Newspaper Club: Will be taking a break for the month of March. Meetings will pick back up after Spring Break.

NEHS: will meet next after school on Thursday April 10th from 3:30-4:15

Student Council: will meet next after school on Friday April 11th (officers Only) and Monday April 14th until 4:10.

Science Olympiad: Practices will be held after school until 4:15. The next meet-ing dates are March 10th, 14th, 17th and the 21st.

Nominations are being sought for the 2014/2015 PTO Board. Please contact our teacher-led nominating committee consisting of Mrs. Anthony/Miss Blimm/Mrs. Pociask to express your interest in running for: President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President (overseeing fundraising), Treasurer, and Secretary. The slate will be announced at the March 11th PTO meeting and will be voted on at the April 15th PTO meeting. Nominations can be taken from the floor at both meetings. Please consider running for a board position as volunteering as a board member is very gratifying and is an excellent op-portunity for you to be involved with your child's school.

Have you heard? Our Spring Family Event has been branded "Finn-a-palooza" and will take place on Sat. May 31st. Please mark your calendars and save the date for this fun-filled music and arts festival.

work was chosen to be part of the perma-

nent art collection here at Lake Street. Her

artwork will be hung outside the office in

the Lake Street Art Gallery. Elena will re-

ceive an art award on awards day in June.
