Mark your calendars and plan to join us at our first PTO meeting on Tues. 9/9 at 4:00 in the library!

PTO Fall Fundraiser (SimpleQPons, No-Sweat, Box Tops) and Infor-mation Packet (Events Calendar, Volunteer Sign-Up Opportunities) and SpiritWear order forms have already come home and are due back to school by 9/10. We are excited to combine our Fall Fundraisers into one incentive promotion. Six families will win $25 Scholastic Book Fair gift card. Your family's number of entries in the Family Prize drawing will be determined by how much you fundraise. Every family will be entered once just for being a "Friend of Finn." Additionally, all grades that raise at least $1,000 will receive a special surprise "treat" at lunch. Finally, to celebrate the completion of the Fall Fundraiser, we will dance away re-cess one day with DJ Donnie! (If you are not participating in the SQP fundraiser, please return your book to the office.)

Calling all Volunteers...PTO needs you!!! Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and ensure events are educational and entertaining and also that fundraising is successful. Not sure how to get started, sign-up to be a General Volunteer or a member of the Pot Luck Committee. This year, we are signing up our volunteers online via VolunteerSpot. It's a really neat website that shows you what we need volunteers for and lets you sign up in a slot that suits your level of commitment. You must use the following link to sign-up http://vols.pt/1ech8r If you prefer to vol-unteer for an event by email, please contact us at mailto:[email protected]

Dear Parent,

Your school is participating in our annual Spread the Love peanut butter food

drive from September 1 -- September 30. Spread the Love is designed to be a

fun and engaging way for students to participate in Hunger Action Month

and learn about the needs of their community while also fostering their com-

petitive spirit in order to raise jars of peanut butter for the hungry.

Why peanut butter? Peanut butter, like meat and eggs, is rich in protein.

While meat and eggs can be expensive, peanut butter can be an inexpensive

and feasible diet staple for low-income families. The Food Bank gives away

more than 96,000 jars of peanut butter each year. Our goal for Spread the

Love is to collect more than 20,000 jars by September 30th.

My sincere hope is that Spread the Love will allow your child to become

aware of hunger in our region and give them the opportunity to take action

and help provide food and hope to those in need. The gift of our time, ener-

gy, passion, and most importantly our empathy can positively impact the

lives of our impoverished neighbors.

As a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief charity,

the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana created Spread the Love to give school

children the opportunity to become hunger relief advocates in their communi-

ty. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Sincerely,

Victor Ortiz “Mr. Food Man”
