Dear Friends, The First Sunday of Advent is in two weeks. As we all know, for some it means the Christmas season is upon us! It’s all a bit confusing, which is as it ought to be when trying to maintain the identity of each season. Waiting in Hope is the charism of Advent whereas the celebration of the Word Made Flesh, is the charism of Christmas. As we approach these seasons, and let’s not forget Thanksgiving, by the way, how are you feeling? Perhaps a little drowsy? Have you taken a “reality check” lately? More to the point, have you checked in on your prayer life, your relationship to God, Jesus, Mary, and whatever Saint you my pray to? The pressures of daily life are unlike any other we have faced in a very long time. The COVID19 pandemic remains one of the most emotionally and spiritually and physically draining issues of our lives. The choices parents have to make each day for the benefit and the well-being of their families are huge. Each family will have its own set of issues and yet there is a commonality about the way we live. We cannot live in isolation from each other. The entire purpose of being and belonging to a parish is to share life together! I continue to see slow but steady growth in our parish as people return to Mass. It is wonderful to see how much we miss each other and how grateful we are to be able to be together again. At this time, let us remind ourselves that God is waiting to hear from each of us. God has promised to listen to us, to respond with love and kindness, and to never leave our side. Take the time to go apart and just be, listen for what you know you need to hear. Prayer changes everything. Peace, Fr. Michael

ARE YOU CAUGHT UP WITH US? Like many others, there is always something that we “mean to get to” but never quite get there. People have forgotten that while they have not come to Mass, neither has their weekly support for

the parish. On a couple of occasions we have received a contribution from parishioners who are “making up” for the time that they haven’t been to church. One way to make sure this doesn’t happen to you is to use online banking from your own bank or signing up on our website. While the pandemic has taken its toll on so many areas, including some peoples’ livelihood, please know that if this is not the case for you, try to get to the computer or your checkbook and make your financial contribution to Our Lady of the Lake. We can’t give out Thank You Gifts as they do on Public Television, but what we can give out is the love we have for God and for one another.

For your convenience, you may scan the QR Code above which will bring you directly to Our Lady of the Lake’s website to make your contribution! Thank you!!(www.ourladylake.churchgiving.com)
