Dè Andrè così raccontava su cosa si fosse ispirato per la tenerissima figura di Marinella.

Ancora giovanissimo, diceva, venne a sapere di una ragazza di quindici anni che faceva la prostituta e che era stata trovata annegata in un corso d’acqua nei dintorni

di casa sua.

Molto colpito, commosso, dalla giovanissima età della ragazza, dalla sua vita già squallidissima e dalla sua tragica morte, volle “reinventarle” una vita; portare la sua

figura in una favola …

Che vi sia riuscito non vi è dubbio! La sua canzone, che risale al 1964, continua ancora a commuovere!

Questo atto di umana pietà gli portò grande fortuna. Egli era infatti figlio di un grandissimo industriale di solide radici borghesi, che vedeva molto di malocchio

questo figlio strano, aspirante artista, alle cui canzoni nessuno faceva attenzione.

Fabrizio si era quasi rassegnato a lasciare le note per gli affari, quando Mina, allora all’apice del successo, accettò di interpretare “Marinella”. Fu un “botto” talmente

clamoroso che il ragazzo si trovò immediatamente al centro degli interessi dei discografici; e suo padre si convinse finalmente, di avere un figlio Grande Artista!

This is how De’ Andrè explained what inspired him about the very delicate figure of Marinella.

Still very young, he said, he learnt about a girl of fifteen who worked as a prostitute and had been found drowned in a watercourse in his own

neighbourhood. Much struck, moved by the girl’s very young age, by her deeply squalid life and

by her tragic death, he wanted to “reinvent” her a life; make her figure the subject of a tale …

There is no doubt he was successful! The song, which dates back to 1964 keeps moving us! This merciful deed brought him a grat deal of luck. He was the son of a very big industrialist of sound bourgeois roots, who didn’t approve of his

odd son, a would-be artist, whose songs nobody minded. Fabrizio had almost resigned himself to leave music for business, when

Mina, then at the top of her success, accepted to interpret “Marinella”. It was a “hit”, so clamorous that the young man became the center

of discographic interests and was offered very profitable contracts; and his father finally convinced himself to have a son who was a Great Artist!
