Manchester United InternshipMy first job when I left University was an internship working for Manchester United’s Sponsorship Design Team. I assisted the Senior Designer creating bespoke brochures, adverts and packaging for companies across the world. These had already been identified as businesses, with the right profile, which might want to sponsor the Manchester United brand by using it to market their own products.

Within the role I quickly developed a better understanding of image composition, typography and layout and learnt and used my Photoshop, and Indesign skills. We worked to tight deadlines so I needed to manage time appropriately and needed the capability, patience and prioritisation ability to juggle multiple tasks at once.

Automotive BrochureAn interactive pdf created to show clients how they can effective deliver brand strategy across their entire showroom portfolio. An initial layout was designed by the Design Manager which I then carried on throughout the rest of the document. The document informs the potential client reader the steps which are required to build and implement car showroom facilities effectively, efficiently and optimally, against a range of technical and commercial considerations. I created a line drawing of a car showroom. As you clicked on each of the steps another part of the illustration would appear until the car showroom as complete. Document can be seen here

Arcadis Imagine CampaignThe ‘Imagine’ & Satellite programme is intended to promote good ideas for business efficiency or growth from anyone in the business by providing a portal for the idea to be uploaded, and then developed and pursued by the individual, but with the business supporting them, recording and facilitating the development and delivery of the improvement.

The best ideas would be put forward for an ‘Imagine’ award, and individuals given an opportunity to present the best ideas to the Executive Board with the chance to win a financial prize spent on an experience of their choice.

The campaign was aimed at everyone within the business which is a global organization with a diverse mix of languages and cultures, with no previous shared history (the global business has grown through acquisition). As there is such as range of audiences, with different capabilities and sector expertise, the design needed to be generic but still effective.

10 Peaks Challenge CampaignThe Ten Peaks Challenge is a charity event that Arcadis employees participate in to raise money for ‘Macmillion’. I was asked to create a series of graphics to encourage people to donate and illustrate the scale of the challenge the volunteers faced.

Congratulations on completing the Arcadis 10 Peaks Challenge Your hard work means that we are able to fund a Macmillan nurse for a year. This means less people will have to face cancer alone.

International Construction Costs 2016 reportThe ‘International Construction Costs’ report is created biennially and is used by Arcadis’ to display its knowledge in the construction market as cost experts. Working with the Design Manager I created an editorial design that broke up the significant amount of content into a more visually compelling report. The full report can be viewed here

Global Built Asset Wealth Index 2015The Global Built Asset Wealth Index is used by Arcadis to calculate the distribution of the world’s wealth in terms of the physical built assets which contribute to a nation’s productivity. The index estimates the value of the buildings and infrastructure in 32 countries which collectively represent around 87% of global GDP.

I assisted and worked alongside the Graphic Design Manager in creating an editorial design which made the content clear, easy to understand and aesthetically pleasing.

Mall Investors’ GuideEnhancing Value out of Existing Retail Assets - This document is a guide to investors on which malls to best invest in and commercial developers on how to best attract the right brands to their retail malls.

I created a clean and simple layout which was easy to navigate with a concise hierarchy enabling people to extract the information as quickly as possible. I used complementary colours for the title to break up the text into identifiable parts.

Arcadis Estates ReviewThe Arcadis Estates review is a yearly publication critiquing the efficiencies of NHS estates across the country. Due to the significant amount of copy and data I was asked to create something visually compelling and eye catching. Displaying the data in the simplest way possible to allow people who do not work within the sector to be able to pick up the document and gain an understanding of the subject matter. Full report can be viewed here.

Arcadis Global Water BrochureA global water brochure to showcase to our clients, our service offerings as well as examples of our work in the different regions we operate in.

The brochure initially took two forms a printed brochure and a digital version. Following the feedback from these I was asked to create an iphone version which could be interacted with similar to an app. Using the in5 plugin for InDesign to make the design mobile friendly. The iphone version can be accessed here. (designed for iPhone 5 and 6.

Fitzpatrick AdvisoryFitzpatrick Advisory is a Highways and Transportation consultancy business. Its aim is to deliver world class solutions to clients at ‘real world prices.’

I supported the set up of the business through the creation of the branding, internal documents and popup banners and stand for the launch of the business at the 2016 Highways UK event.

We decided on using a combination of a Teal Green, Dark blue, white and grey as the colour scheme: corporate, un-derstated which looks serious and professional. Following this launch I have also taken part in the maintenance of the company website going forward and working on a recent bid. Creating Word, Powerpoint and Excel documents. This required significant diligence to ensure the documents were produced to extremely tight deadlines, without any errors/ typos.
