By Leisa EdmondsCheck Into Cash Center 22025 (2103-2105 South Loudoun Street)Assistant ManagerWinchester, VA—This is what I found on the door when I got to work this morning!

By David RogersCheck Into Cash Center 14030 (3209 West Blue Ridge Drive)Customer Service RepresentativeGreenville, SC—Exactly two weeks ago, I performed at an open mic event in Greenville. Thankfully, I was able to be accompanied by an in-credible guitarist, with whom I’ve never rehearsed.

The song I selected to sing was “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. This performance was definitely one for me to remember because it was dedicated to the most incredible woman I know—my love, my sweet-heart, my darling girlfriend, LaBrittney. I was even able to slip her name in the lyrics of the song and she loved it!

I had an amazing time and so many fond memories from this event that I am still in awe over.

These girls went undefeated all weekend and played their hearts out. They are amazing softball play-ers and I couldn’t be more proud of them!

Congratulations, Avengers!

Originally published in the Cleveland Daily Banner. Written by Patrick MacCoon.Cleveland, TN—Walk in to any wrestling center in Cleveland and you’ll find history overflowing on the trophy shelves.

Around the mat there are 40 team state championships and nearly 150 individual state champions between three schools.

A trio of four-time champions hold a unique legacy in Bradley County, as do

legendary coaches and a determined supporter.

The gold standard is un-derstood by many, especially rising Cleveland High School sophomore Trae McDaniel.

With a 38-4 record for the Blue Raiders at 106 pounds last season, McDaniel let a loss in the Class AAA state fi-nals motivate him to dominate this summer.

“Not winning gold at the state tournament really lit a fire under me, and motivat-ed me more than anything has in my life,” McDaniel said. “I got back and hit the training room as soon as I could. You have to battle all the way to the end and never settle.”

Competing at the

10-RUNVICTORY

A FIRST IN BRADLEY COUNTY WRESTLINGTrey McDaniel, son of Check Into Cash Vehi-cle Appraisal Specialist Dawn McDaniel, is on the road to the top of the wrestling world.

USA Wrestling Cadet/Junior National Cham-pionships in Fargo, North Dakota, recently, McDaniel was able to accomplish a rare first for his hometown.

The Blue Raider became the first local wres-tler to earn double All-American status.

With confidence in his technique and stamina, a six-day battle in the 100-pound weight class displayed his unique talent.

McDaniel went 6-1 in Greco Roman to finish in third place, while he also went 7-2 in Freestyle to place seventh.

For only the fifth time in state history, a wrestler achieved All-American status in two tournaments at the national championships.

“This is the biggest accomplishment a wres-tler from our area has achieved in high school,” Higher Calling Wrestling Club head coach Josh Bosken said. “With brackets holding as many as 150 kids, Fargo is the toughest tournament for a high school wrestler to compete in.

“To put Trae’s achievement into perspec-tive, some of the Cleveland/Bradley Central greats, such as four-time state champions Chris DeBien and Matt Keller, only placed in one style. Trae’s makeup is unbelievable, and he has the chance to be one of the best this area has ever seen.”

Going blow-for-blow with some of the top talents in the nation, McDaniel kept his com-posure in a field of upcoming freshman and sophomores.

“The biggest challenge is to not get nervous,

and wrestle like I normally would,” McDaniel said. “I try to go out there and do the best I can. I want to place every year at Nationals, win state championships, and get some good college [scholarship] offers.”

McDaniel was one of the state’s top newcomers last season for Cleveland, who swept both the du-

als and traditional tournaments in Murfreesboro this past February.

Rarely putting himself out of position or letting his opponent have an opportunity for a pin, his defense and technique have both been described as well above his age for a wrestler who has been getting after it since he was four years old.

By placing third in Greco Ro-man, McDaniel was selected to be a part of the USAW world team, along with being invited to train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He joins upcoming freshman Blue Raider Ashton Davis, who will compete for the USAW world team when he travels to Mexico

City to compete in the Pan Ameri-can Games in September.

The mecca of high school wres-tling in the Volunteer State contin-ues to add to a first-class tradition, as some of the nation’s best are right in the Cleveland and Bradley County community.

Networking Guru ExtraordinaireCleveland, TN—This is what happens when you turn 50! Happy day to Carmen Reagan, Director of Licensing for Check Into Cash.

By Matthew RobertsCheck Into Cash OnlineCustomer Service RepresentativeCleveland, TN—Twenty-five years and my life is still. Trying to get up the great big hill, of hope…for a destination.

I realized quickly when I knew I should, that the world was never this brotherhood of man…for what-ever that means. And so I cry sometimes when I’m lying in bed just to get it all out, what’s in my head?!

And I..feeling a little peculiar. And so I wake in the morning and I step outside, then I take a deep breath and I get real high and I....

scream at the top of my lungs. What’s going on? And I said, “Hey!” What’s going on? That about sums it up.

WHAT’S GOING ON?When the Courier asked “What’s going on, well...some-one just couldn’t help but give a lyrical answer.

LIFE IN REVIEWThinking of getting out and about or snuggling at home with a good book? Before you do, check out these reviews to see if what you’re looking to dig into holds up to our reviewers’ standards.MOVIE: CHRISTOPHER ROBINBy Ashley AndresCheck Into Cash Center 6046 (1233 S Main Street)ManagerBryan, OH—For about a month our town has been advertising the movie, Christopher Rob-in. Being the young age of 25 this brought a lot of memo-ries of watch-ing Winnie the Pooh as a little girl even into my teen years. I was super excited to go watch it with my childhood best friend. Sadly the mov-ie was not all I expected it to be. There were some gig-gle moments and aww mo-ments, but the ending was definitely not my fa-vorite as it was a bit cheesy. I don’t think I will be out in stores rushing to buy this one for my movie collection.

MOVIE: CHRISTOPHER ROBINBy Leanna RoseCheck Into Cash Center 22008 (3600 South Crater Road)ManagerPetersburg, VA—Okay, so I’m 49 years old. Does that mean I can’t watch a movie that brings me back to my childhood days?

I was so into it. Christopher is a grown man now, and Pooh recognizes him by looking into his eyes. He still sees Christopher Robin as he always has.

Pooh has lost his friends and comes to ask Christopher Robin to help find them. He ends up also finding himself, whom he lost so many years ago.

The movie kind of reminds us to take a look at what is in our bag of important things. MOVIE: I CAN ONLY IMAGINEBy Vickie Belue-McDanielCheck Into Cash Center 14023 (1419 Floyd Baker Boulevard)Assistant ManagerGaffney, SC—I saw the movie I Can Only Imag-ine with my church family, and it was so inspir-ing! Life is such a tre-mendous b l e s s i n g and trea-sure, and God is so awesome! I lost my d a d d y , m o t h e r , sister, and h u s b a n d within the past four years. Our loss truly is God’s gain. Have a blessed day.

CONCERT: TORN APART IN VEN-GEANCEBy Matthew RobertsCheck Into Cash OnlineCustomer Service RepresentativeChattanooga, TN—I have dabbled in many types of music over the years as I progressed through the weird phases of life. Raised on clas-sic rock, engrained with rap throughout middle

school, anger infused with heavy metal through high school, and then relaxed with 90’s alterna-tive during college.

From time to time I seem to relive these phases in short segments, flipping on Skid Row radio on Pandora or listening to Avenged Sevenfold on the drive home from work after

something gets under my skin. During one of these revisits to the dark side of rock, I decided to go to a small venue in Chatta-nooga to listen to a band called Torn Apart in Vengeance, a name that’s inability to make sense matched their lack of general skill in the musical field.

As my friend and I entered the venue, we were quickly met by the pungent aro-ma of four-times-worn t-shirts, purposely ripped blue jeans, and long hair that was clearly ponytailed to hide the unwashed na-ture of its texture.

A pre-formed mosh pit was already in session in the middle of the room, which—if not already seeming primitive enough with heavy music involved—looks even more preposterous when doing it in a quiet room as people watched on the sideline.

Finally, the “music” began by the over-ly predictable open strum of a guitar tuned

five steps too low. This was quickly followed by hands in the air, hair in the flop, and non-met-aphorical dust in the wind. As they continued slamming what seemed to be random chords while yelling about society being broken, it was quickly apparent that we had entered an area of music to which we were unfamiliar. Eyes cut at us as we walked toward the exit, and one guy looked directly into our soul with a cigarette dangling from his lips and muttered “Sheep” while opening the door for us to the normal world outside.

I never thought the musk would exit my nostrils from that night, lingering almost as long as the headache brought on by the misuse of musical instruments. I have a love for mu-sic and concerts, but that was neither of those things. Maybe I will go see Adele for my next concert.

CONCERT: RADIOHEADBy Jonathan LaneLoan By PhoneCSR OriginationsCincinnati, OH—I recently went to Cincin-nati to see Radiohead on tour. It was by far the great-est concert I’ve ever a t t e n d -ed! They sound ex-actly the same live as they do on their r e c o r d s , and that is an impres-sive feat.

CONCERT AND CONCERT SER-VICE: MICHAEL McDONALD AND TUNESPEAKBy Jan NunleyCheck Into Cash OnlineExecutive Administrative AssistantChattanooga, TN—My husband and I recently attended the Michael McDonald concert held

at the Walker Theatre in Chattanooga. I won the tickets through Tunespeak.

Tunespeak is a musician-to-fan loyalty plat-form. You earn entries when you listen to mu-sic, watch videos, check out photos, and share with your friends and followers. When you go to their web page (www.tunespeak.com), it lists contests for many artists and cities where the concert will be held. You can sign up for as many as you choose. Some contests are for tick-ets, some for VIP packages, and some are even meet and greet with the artists.

We had no idea where the tickets would be. When we arrived, we went to the will-call win-dow. All I had to do was give them my name and show my ID. Our tickets were on the tenth row. They were perfect. The concert was awe-some! Walker Theatre is a very small, quaint venue.

We enjoyed the show and even more so since the tickets were free!

If you enjoy concerts, give Tunespeak a try. You might just win!

BOOKS: THE SILENT SISTER AND PRETENDING TO DANCE

By Courtney LeagueCheck Into Cash OnlineCustomer Service RepresentativeCleveland, TN—I recently read The Silent Sis-ter and Pretending to Dance by Diane Cham-berlain. Those books were a lot better than I had expected. I recommend anyone who loves drama/thriller type books to read those. The Si-lent Sister was my favorite of the two. I definite-ly wasn’t expecting things to turn out the way that they did in the end.

Cleveland, TN—If you clock in at Jones Com-panies Corporate Headquarters, you’ve come in contact with the Culture Club, one way or an-other. What exactly is the Culture Club and how can folks join? We talked with Denita Saunders, Check Into Cash Online Employee Engagement Specialist, to find out.

Where did the idea for the Culture Club originate?

The evolution of the Culture Committee started almost three years ago when Director of Online Operations Matt Esterman really want-ed to make E-Commerce Call Center (former-ly known as LBP) a place where people would want to come to work every day and tasked me with bringing ideas from my previous Disney career into the LBP family and the Culture Club was born!

About a year later, former Vice President of Hu-man Resources Donnie Upshaw talked to me about helping to bring the same sort of culture into Check Into Cash and we built the Culture Com-mittee. Finally, when Director of Human Resourc-es Nicole Dicus requested my role to be created she envisioned bring-ing the company together into one big family. With a lot of work, we have now blend-ed the two groups into the current Culture Commit-tee with the goal of bringing equal opportunity fun across all departments!

Who makes up the club? Our club is constantly changing and grow-

ing and we have been very blessed with the sup-port of everyone from C-Levels to part-time agents! Our core group (we call them our offi-cers) are Marketing Strategist Julia Donagran-di, Marketing Project Manager Brad Baum, Human Resources/Payroll Processing Asso-ciate David Guzman, LBP Project Specialist Amber Cannon, Social Media Specialist Nate Brownfield, CSR Collections Elizabeth Killian,

KARMA CHAMELEONCSR Originations Tina Skaggs, and of course me—Denita! We have more than thirty mem-bers across all departments that work together with the officers to make each event appeal to as many people as possible!

How big an influence is Boy George on the group and are you excited that Culture Club has a new album coming out—the first in nineteen years?

Well, naturally he is a huge influence! We are all about fun after all!

What is the Culture Club responsible for? What we do is as diverse as the members!

We plan all of the large events such as Employee Appreciation Week, Customer Service Appre-ciation Week, Halloween, and Christmas. We also assist Marketing with the Christmas Pa-rade, The Halloween Block Party, and The Bat

Mobile. We have currently been working hard at

finding fun activities for outside of work! We set up discounted rates and search out new ac-tivities to appeal to everyone in the CIC family. The biggest surprise to many is that we can also be “hired” to plan events for individual depart-ments! We are literally here to help with any-thing that we can.

Our primary responsibility is driving, de-veloping, and molding the company culture in a way that helps keep our efforts employee-fo-

cused. Our company consists of many different types of people from many different walks of life, and we like to focus on that and celebrate it. Diversity and fellowship are key players in our decision-making, and of course, we love to hear feedback. We try and execute these ideas through the company events and gatherings.

How many events per year does the club put on?

Large events we have include the Art Show, Relay For Life Drive, Employee Appreciation Week, United Way Launch, Customer Ser-vice Appreciation Week (Call Centers), Health Fair, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. There are so many small events I couldn’t even count them!

Who is the ideal person to join the Cul-ture Club?

Everyone is ideal. We need ideas that fit every personality and every department. Active members are very import-ant and ones who have flexible schedules are al-ways very good!

How does someone become a member?

We send out emails twice a year for member-ship but if you want to jump in between drives just send me an email at [email protected]!

How often do you meet?

It depends on what we have go-ing on. Right now we have so many

events going that we have broken into small groups to handle each event. We probably have a couple of meetings each week. Other times of the year they can be biweekly or even monthly.

Is there anything else you would like to see mentioned?

Positive feedback and fresh ideas are always welcome. You do not need to join to share a fan-tastic idea. Just send it to [email protected] and we will take the time to sit down with you and see how we can make your idea a reality!

Japan—This June I traveled to Japan to see my grandson, Isaiah Howard, graduate from high school with honors and distinction. I was a proud grandparent sitting with my daughter, Simone, Isaiah’s proud mother, as we watched our young man cross over to a new phrase of his life.

While in Japan, my daughter and grandson accompanied me on a tour of Mount Fuji. We also took a cruise on a crater lake around Mount Fuji. It was absolutely, beautifully breathtaking to say the least.

We experienced a ride on one of Japan’s famed bullet trains to make our adventure an all-inclusive Japan experience. The most import-ant thing of all was sharing that with two of my favorite people, Simone and Isaiah.

TRAVELING WITH SPOUSESSubmitted by Ellie St. PierreCheck Into CashExecutive Administrative Assistant

And now, for something to tickle your funny bone...

While on a road trip, an elderly cou-ple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch.

After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant, and resumed their trip.

When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table, and she didn’t miss them until they had been driving for about forty minutes.

By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance be-fore they could find a place to turn-around, in order to return to the restaurant to retrieve her glasses.

All the way back, the elderly hus-band became the classic grumpy old man.

He fussed and complained and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire return drive.

The more he chided her, the more agitated he became. He just wouldn’t let up for a single minute.

To her relief, they finally arrived at
