DESCRIPTION
employer can play a very significant role in encouraging market acceptance of plug-in electric vehicles (PEV’s). With a relatively small amount of investment, many employers are now taking on a new role as fuel provider for their employees. This one-day workshop discussed what employers are doing to support PEV market acceptance, and joining the campaign to improve air quality, prevent climate change, and reduce dependence on oil.TRANSCRIPT

CALSTART’s History of EV Experience
In the 1990’s, CALSTART led a multi-party effort to build 500+ EV charging stations in CA
• Today, CALSTART’s new parking lot canopy and rooftop solar panels provide clean, renewable energy to the Pasadena headquarters building, and allow our growing fleet of EV’s to charge with near zero emission electricity.
• California public funding is scheduled to decline
• CALSTART is working on a separate initiative to sustain the funding state incentives for EV’s and infrastructure.

Extends the range of PEVs and builds the market
Creates local ‘PEV showrooms’ for info sharing on vehicles
EV’s can act as ‘employee pool cars’ for day trips

• 53% (32 out of 60) of
respondents currently have WPC installed
• 60 total survey responses from public/private employers across the state

• Cost and range are the two biggest barriers for the EV movement. EV Employer Initiative will address the range issue. CALSTART’s policy/incentives work will address the cost issue.
