CoolSculpting is a patented, non-invasive, clinically proven procedure to selectively reduce fat layers in problem areas by using a patented cooling technology. It is a safe procedure cleared by the FDA that gently cools unwanted fat cells in the body to induce a natural, controlled elimination of fat cells. This reduces bulges in treated areas of the body without harming surrounding tissue.

What is CoolSculpting?


Mother Nature, lifestyle or gravity. No matter the culprit, many of us have bulges of stubborn fat.

Those unwanted bulges contain fat cells which can be resistant to diet and exercise, but not to CoolSculpting.

CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to target and crystalize fat cells.

Crystallized fat cells gradually die off, then are naturally eliminated from your body.

In the weeks and months following treatment, remaining fat cells condense, reducing the fat layer.

CoolSculpting lets you say goodbye to stubborn fat.



The controlled cooling of the CoolSculpting Procedure targets and eliminates only fat cells. Other treatment modalities, such as lasers, radiofrequency and focused ultrasound, affect fat cells while potentially affecting other tissue.

How does CoolSculpting differ from other treatments?




During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator is applied to the skin surface to deliver precisely controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells in specific areas of the body. As they are exposed to cooling, the fat cells begin a process of natural cell removal. The fat cells in the treated area are gradually eliminated through the body's normal metabolic processes, similar to how fat from food is eliminated.

How does it work?




We look for motivated individuals who are within 10 to 15 pounds of goal weight. This is NOT a solution to sidestep healthy lifestyle changes and will not result in significant improvement if you don't work hard after the procedure to diet and exercise.

By the same token, if you are too thin, it won't have much of an effect and can be more painful than if you have enough fat to 'pinch an inch.' Dr. Schlessinger will determine if you are a good candidate at the time of your free consultation.

Who is a good candidate for CoolScuplting?




CoolSculpting may not result in as much fat being removed as with liposuction and may require more procedures to reach the same point as with tumescent liposuction and SmartLipo. Additionally, there are certain areas, such as the chin, that don't have a treatment head from CoolSculpting at present. This may change in the future.

Is CoolSculpting better than SmartLipo/Tumescent Liposuction?




It all depends on where the fat is, how much fat is there and what your level of availability is.

CoolSculpting generally removes about 25% to 30% of the fat in an area, while tumescent liposuction removes about 60% and SmartLipo removes about 75% of the fat. This means that two CoolSculpting procedures will result in almost the same amount of fat removal as with tumescent liposuction in most individuals.

How effective is CoolSculpting?




It all depends on the area and the amount of procedures necessary. It may be about the same cost if two or more CoolSculpting procedures are needed, but the benefit is in downtime, which is essentially negligible with CoolSculpting.

Is CoolSculpting less expensive than SmartLipo/Tumescent Liposuction?




CoolSculpting is a great procedure for someone who simply doesn't have the time to be out of work for even a day. It can be done in an hour or so and there is NO recovery time at all. This means you can actually be back at your desk a few hours after you arrive at our facility.

How long does the treatment take?




You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after two months. Your body will still flush out fat cells and continue to doso for up to four to six months after treatment.

How soon will I see results?




There is no set number of treatments. If another treatment is desired, that is done at about four months after the initial treatment. Package rates are applied if you desire to have more than one treatment or if multiple areas are treated on the same day.

How many treatments will I need?




Generally, there is a suctioning sensation and there may be tingling during or after the procedure. Most of our patients have felt nothing. All have gone back to work the same day of the procedure and none have needed any anesthetic or medications before or after the procedure. However, we do offer these if needed or requested.

Does it hurt?




Generally, the abdomen and flanks are the best areas to treat, but other areas such as the arms, inner thighs and outer thighs can also be treated in many people. In most people, the areas go back with minimal or no laxity of the skin, but if you have loose skin to begin with, there will likely be loose skin after the procedure. Cellulite may also be more obvious after the procedure if you have it initially.

Is CoolSculpting safe?


Developed by Harvard scientists, the patented procedure uses a targeted cooling process that kills the fat cells underneath the skin, literally freezing them to the point of elimination. Only fat cells are frozen, while healthy cells remain.

Procedures that use laser, sonic waves and even surgery to remove fat can actually destroy other tissue in the process by burning, shattering or extracting non-fat cells. This requires downtime for your body to heal. In contrast, CoolSculpting doesn’t burn, shatter or extract any cells.
