Conservation Heritage: Boarding SchoolDelapre Abbey, Northampton , UK

Rethinking link between Heritage and modern society, reactivating the heritage building within new function of boarding school, and using maintainance knowledge to ensure the integrity of heritage as possible. Finally, to achieve the maximum benefits of culture and bussiness.

Inventing Form A Shape: Holiday RetreatHanningfield Reservior, Stock, UK

Educated the skill with architecture techniques, the project used simple foursquare to creat a complex building shape. Even including the ecological strategy.

Clustered FormA clustered organization can also consist of forms that are equivalent in size, shape. These forms are visually ordered into a coherent.

Private and Public:In this project, it also thought about the balance between private and public following the diagonal line. In ground floor plan, it divided in two parts, which is private area on top left corner. And the public area is on lower right corner. It is a gradual process refleting in function. In addtion, it is in same way within first floor.

Additive & Subtractive After creating a 4 by 4 grids, through the two methods about additive and subtractive to inventing a shape, which is basis on function.

Membrane:3mm thickness, between the inner wall and insulation.

Insulation:generally 50mm rigid foam insulation with cavity.

Block work:Concrete block is 100mm X 300mm, should be with vertical reinforced. and the fitting is ladder-type horizontal reinforcement

Brick: 215 X 102 X 65mm, running bond with motar.

Membrane:Vertical leg of flashing 400mm (200mm minimum), turned into joint 25mm

Stucco:Enternal wall finished

Time and Linear : Fire StationUpton, Northampton, UK

Determining the relationship of time and linear to design a fire station. Whether location choice or building design, time is the core element for fire station. Time is an abstract concept, can be specificed for straight line or curve. Depended by our living, linear is more suitable to describe time. Even in this project, time is defined through three function.

Speed and Flow:Fire station is emphasis on speed, so the original idea is that used flow to divide various function in difference area. And it also need connet them. Finally, the 3 ‘vertical flow' and 2 ‘horizontal flow' came out.

Ecology strategy:Designing a building in ecology way should focus on solution of winter more than summer in UK. The use of ground heating, photovolatic and glass tube.

Modern and Classical: Visitor CentreDelapre Abbey, Northampton , UK

In this project, the Delapre Abbey is as heritage area for visiting. It's interesting that how to deal with the exisiting building and the new extension. To keep the historical value as core feature and emphasis the new servie function as well.
