Concept : Space Given Back to Citizens
Currently, the coach terminals are located in some places in a city, isolated. It connects neither with the people who do not take the coach nor with its surroundings. My concept of design is to give the space back to citizens. A building should be a place that everyone can go freely and that connects closely with its surrounding.

Strategies:Three major design ideas are adopted in the design:1.The public roof is turned into a free walkway. Beginning from the south end of the base, it leads people to the upper floor and recovers citizens’ route2.At the south end of the base sets a plaza, through which gathers people and connects the architecture with the surroundings. It provides the surrounding residents with a place for leisure. 3.The restaurant and cafe of the building was located in the plaza in the south end. It’s open to the public. The passengers in the hotel can go there directly through the roof.

02 High Rise Office Building
2013.03
With the rapid development and the increasing number of employers, the ***Communication Corporation is planning to construct a new high-rise office building in Jiangmen Gaoxin District to meet the increasing needs. This design depends on the objective requirements of function, availability and adaptability. The suitable design will be the key of the success of business operation and help the developers to achieve their business goals. Therefore, the value of this design is reasonable function, strong adaptability, good economic benefits and city image.
The base is located in the centre of Jiangmen, China and near the main artery of the city—Dong Hua Er Road. It geographical location is advantageous. The base faces major architectures of Jiangmen in the north, like Palace International Hotel, People's Bank of China, Municipal Political Consultative Conference of Jiangmen, etc. The southern side of the base is the region of low building height and building density. The base faces the Donghu Park in the west and enjoys the beautiful scenery.

The corner forms the plaza, but the main building is too far, which is unhelpful for the traffic and image display.
Exchange the main building with Annex one. Though it solves the problem of the plan one, the effect of main building and plaza is not good
Exchange the main building with Annex Two. The main building highlights the good relation with plaza. Though the Annex One is in the back of the main building, it is closely connected with the Donghu Park and open to the citizens.
Planning Comparison
Concept Diagram
It’s designed from the perspective of urban fabric. The main building is on the right and close to cross, which is beneficial to highlight its image. The back of the building is a city plaza, which not only contributes to the urban space, but also increases the angle of showing its image. Connecting the commercial centre and D good place for leisure. The storey height is 4m, providing comfort in the building and adaptability for future development.

Jiangmen is small city in Guangdong Province, surrounded by big cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kong Kong etc. As a relatively less developed city, Jiangmen plays the role as a buffer to release big cities' physical and mental pressure.
There are few recreation places resturants and hotels around the project site and the new building can provide residents with enough functions that just mentioned above.
There are many residential area, factories and government buildings around the project site. The catchment area of the new building is large enough but the view to the scenery is not so good and consumers lack public spaces and activity spaces.
The project site is near Jiangmen Rai lway Stat ion and beside an important urban road and it is like the gate of Jiangmen. Therefore, this project will be the landmark of Jiangmen in the future.

Section Analysis
NEW VOLUMEA new one story volume contain ing commercia l is implemented on the site
To show the respect to the heritage buildings, no high rise buildings are beside them. People living or working in the SOHO area can enjoy the open view towards the creative park.
CONNECTIONSCurved streets are cut through the volume to connect the surrounding context.
STREET and Public Open SpaceOrganic streets are curved put of the building mass to create 7 small volumes . Small organic streets, public open space and green space define the new urban intentions of the site.
Green PlatformOn the upper stories, a continuous two-story volume containing working space has been generated, with a large green platform where people can spend their leisure time.
High Rise Buildings and Middle Rise BuilldingsEight buildings of different levels have been created on the green platform.
Exhibition Square is a staging and entertaining space that serves the Special Trade Neighborhood. It is a large plaza and seating area ideal for displays, exhibits and large-scale events.

RenderingIsolaton Wall The Identity of Queenstown
2625
After generating a frame work for architects, they can explore their creativity to design different façade and styles for the office buildings, so as to improve the identity of Queenstown.
If we protect the heritage buildings by isolating them from the surrounding area and maintaining their single functions, they will lack vitality and people would have no interest to visit there.
In our design, we intend to create a creative park beside the heritage buildings and connect them together. As a result, the heritage building will have vitality again and young people will be attracted to visit there.
To provide people with a quite living and working environment, we propose a "isolation wall" idea in terms of the tower floor plan design. The service functions are located on one side of the tower instead of in the middle, which can play the role of a isolation wall and seperate people from the noise from the urban main road.
Project Model
The culture belt connect the HDB area and the SOHO area as a whole body, attracting people to go the creative park and know more about the heritage buildings.

The waterfront living center is located beside Pandang Reservoir and Jurong River. Therefore, the first strategy is to use a four-layer model to do the function layout surrounding the Pandang Reservoir. In the first layer, the waterfront space is preserved as public space where residents can jog, cycle, walk and so on beside Pandang Reservoir. The second layer is city comprehensive function area which includes commercial, office, SOHO, cultural facilities, administration and waterfront plaza. In the third layer, there are middle density housing with complete living facilities. The fourth layer has the highest value because of its waterfront location therefore high density attractive housing is constructed there.
First Layer(Waterfront Green Space). Second Layer(City Comprehensive Function Area). Use the small block system to contain more function, improve the city’s efficiency and release the transportation pressure.
Propose a cycle network near public facilities and green space and make it isolated with vehicles to provide people with safe, comfortable and characteristic outdoor exercise space.
Propose a community where residents can reach public facilities, bus station, public space and so on with 5 minutes. By doing this, the walkability can be improved.
