This project required students to design a Mondrian museum. We should use collumns and beams to create a modern style building and take the relationship between sunlight and the function area of the building into considertaion. The phisical model was built along with the project but the digital model and rendering were updated one year later.

This project will locate at downtown Dongguan, China. The client required the whole building should look like two separate buildings but still connected. The building should include a private chamber and a helicopter airport on the top of the building.

The diagonal lines on the façade can break through the previous insipid construction style. The one-way transmitting glass can protect the indoor space from light at day time and makes the building glittering at night like a crystal and becoming the landmark of the complex. Also, the design applies different height of f loors to distinguish the main building and its wing, which meets customer requirements.

This competition required students to design and build a 1:1 model on a hill. The model should satisfy all teammates (6 students in our team) live inside for two nights. The theme for 2016 competition is “Aura”. I was mainly responsible for the base structure design and I design all the joints on the base of traditional chinese mortise and tenon joints. These joints can make the whole structure stable without using metal or glue.
