COME AND SEE US Why not come along and talk to us face to face at
the Surgery that your Barnwood In Touch Team
share with the Abbey Councillors? This is held on
the last Saturday morning of every month at
Abbeydale Community Centre, from 10am -11am.
The local police are usually in attendance too.
Lise and Tarren use Facebook to post
up-to-date snippets of information,
telling you what they are up to. To find
them on Facebook just search “Lise Noakes” or
“Councillor Tarren Randle (Barnwood)”.

Tarren uses her Barnwood Member Allocation
All City Councillors can spend £1,000
in their ward this year, provided they
have a suitable use for the money.
Lise and Tarren didn’t want Barnwood
to lose out so have been putting in the
effort needed to come up with some
good uses for the money. Last month
we told you about the Scouting Fun
Day to be held on 21st March – see
www.lisenoakes.org.uk for detail.
Tarren has helped a large number of local residents with a variety of challenges they
have put her way, she has represented the interests of Barnwood within the City and
has worked hard within the City Council on many committees including as current Chair
of Licensing.
Tarren Randle and Lise Noakes work well as a team for you in Barnwood and they both
hope you will vote for Tarren on 7th May so that they can carry on with the work they
are doing: there is always plenty more to do.
HOLLY HOUSE SITE
Tarren Randle: best for Barnwood
At the election on 7th May you will
be voting for your MP (Richard
Graham) and also for a Barnwood
City Councillor to represent you.
Tarren is the best choice by far.
She has served as your City
Councillor for the last four years
and has a proven track record.
Tarren has used part of her allocation fund to purchase stickers to supply to residents wanting to
take part in a scheme to help to reduce dog fouling. These stickers can be stuck to your black
bins in a bid to help decrease the amount of dog fouling in your local streets, by stating that you
have a dog friendly bin. Tarren said “I know this won’t appeal to everyone but many fellow dog
owners like me will be bound to sign up. Just contact me for a sticker”.
Residents had contacted Tarren & Lise to report anti social behaviour at the Holly House site, mainly after dark in the car park. Your Conservative Councillors spoke to the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust who very quickly installed a barrier to keep cars out after office hours. They are now reminding the key holder to ensure the barrier is in place after each working day.
A few facts about Tarren Tarren has lived in Gloucester all her life including for a
number of years in Barnwood.
She is married to Simon and has two children aged 13 and
22.
Tarren attended Winifred Cullis School (now Barnwood
Park).
Tarren has a great deal of experience of life having being
brought up in care and then a foster home.
She turned her life around from a single mother living on
benefits to where she is today as a happily married mother
and house owner, as well as an active councillor.
Tarren’s experience gives her a great understanding of
many of the challenges faced by residents.

Let us know if you have any issues of concern:
Please give us your contact details so we can keep in touch with you about the issues you
have raised:
Barnwood Bowling Club Several residents have spoken to Tarren & Lise about the problem
sometimes faced when driving from Gloucester and turning right at the
roundabout into Blake Hill Way. On occasion a car coming from the
opposite direction is speeding and has to brake as the driver sees a
car coming round the roundabout. We have spoken to Gloucestershire
Highways who have said that local people are aware of this
roundabout, signage is in place, accidents are low, so other than
renewing the road marking on the lead up to the roundabout they don’t
suggest any other action.
Tarren & Lise undertook a speed check here and found an average
speed of 27mph with 3 cars in 100 tested travelling at a speed of
35mph or over. All will have been written to by the police.
Please be aware of people coming round the roundabout to turn right
at this, or any of our other roundabouts.
Tarren & Lise get things done in the Barnwood Ward
The works to the crossing and bus stops on Barnwood Road
have been very frustrating to residents. Your Barnwood
Conservative team has been fighting every step of the way to
get this crossing put in correctly and to get the bus stops back
in action. Lise campaigned long and hard from 2005 to get
the original crossing point put in, which was eventually
installed in 2010. This new crossing will make it even easier
for people to cross the road but it has been a painful journey.
Gloucester City Planning Committee, which Lise sits on,
insisted that the crossing should be in place before the store
opened but unfortunately an error in issuing the statutory
notices caused a delay. Then unbelievably when the crossing
was put in the hump was twice the height specified by
Gloucestershire Highways. Tarren & Lise were quickly on the
case to ensure that the error was rectified.

Action at York Road
Clock Tower The Clock Tower Estate hasn’t been fully
adopted yet because the development
company still hasn’t fulfilled all of its
commitments. It is unfortunately not a quick
and easy thing to resolve but clearly no area
can be passed on to a Council to maintain at
public cost until everything is in place. Your
Conservative team are working with the
Council to try to get some movement as
adoption is in the interest of the residents.
Meanwhile it is hoped that another Fun Day
will take place in Clock Tower Park in the
early summer with an aim of getting the
Friends of Clock Tower Park up and running.
A work day is also planned for next month
when Tarren & Lise will be helping with such
tasks as repainting the basketball frame.
Tarren & Lise continue to ensure essential
maintenance is carried out; Amey are kindly
cutting back some overgrowth from the paths
(though not yet their official responsibility)
and Lise has reminded Bellway of their
duty to cut back other areas.
Action on Eastern Avenue
Whilst it’s great to see the shops thriving at the Eastern Avenue Retail
Park, your Conservative team have been contacted by a number of
residents who have suffered from shoppers parking where it would be
better if kept clear. The numbers of cars moving around the entrance to
the shopping car park, coupled with parked cars is dangerous as well as
making life difficult for local people. We’ve been discussing this with
Gloucestershire Highways since December 2013 and in August last year
they agreed to apply further parking restrictions here, though not until
February/March 2015. Lise and Tarren are very persistent when
something matters to local people. The official notices that precede these
additional restrictions have been prepared and should be in place by the
time you read this. The extra double yellow lines will be in soon.
Residents living on Eastern Avenue who need to join the main
road from the slip road have often suffered reduced visibility
from cars parking on the grass verge. Your local Conservative
team have discussed this with Gloucestershire Highways who
said that whilst they wouldn’t normally put bollards into verges
to stop people parking, given the location and the level and
speed of traffic on Eastern Avenue they felt that bollards were
appropriate over a small section to keep sightlines clear.
