BIPV’s strong growth rate of appr. 50% per year yields to 1.9 GW by 2015. Predicted growth up to 2,25GW in 2017 Thin film technology is well suited for BIPV because of

technical advantages (e.g. appearance) Flexible TF is even more superior for BIPV due to:

Any size, any shape, any voltage Light weight products can be applied

High solar cell efficiency enables further cost reduction

• Cost reduction by efficiency increase (€/Wp)

• CIGS technology has highest theoretical

efficiency potential among all mainstream

thin- film technologies

• CIGS technology will close the gap with c-Si as

technology matures in coming years

• CIGS on polymer has proved the potential to

match the efficiency of CIGS on glass

• Existing lab record of CIGS on polymer is already

higher than record of other main thin-film

technologies CdTe, a-Si, and currently poly-Si

Corporate Overview.

Our Proprietary Technology

Solarion develops and produces thin-film solar cells and modules employing a patented ion beam-assisted manufacturing process that deposits a thin layer of copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) on the lightest substrate available at reduced deposition temperature.

Current Solarion employees app. 130 in three locations.

HQ Leipzig cell R&D, Zwenkau 20MW mass production, Dresden module R&D

Zwenkau facility, Mass-production 20 MW

1996 2002 2004 - 2007 2007 - 2008 2013

Idea of flexible CIGS manufacturing technology was born at IOM institution

Solarion was founded as a spin-off from IOM e.V.

• c-Si Solar module requires mounting system installed on the roof and the cabling is on top of the roof.

• Solarion integrated solution is the roof • No mounting system required, cabling protected by

roof. • No additional cost for PV installation

Up to 35% BOS cost savings: Material savings (no

back-sheet, no mounting system), no additional labor cost

Solarion flexible module offers substantial savings on BoS costs through roof-integrated PV solutions.
