YOUNG ENDEAVOUR It was great to have the crew from STS Young Endeavour

docked at Portside Wharf earlier this month! Onboard were 25 young Australians, together with nine specially trained Royal Australian Navy crew. The ship makes around 20 voyages each year, and will only visit Brisbane twice in 2012. The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme is a not for profit organisation that provides young Australians with a unique, challenging and inspirational experience at sea for the crew, aged 16 to 23.

Come one, come all! Cirque du Soleil will be at Northshore Hamilton from July 14 to August 19 with their new show OVO – a teeming world of insects. Mum always has that unique touch when it comes to celebrating our special day, so with Mother’s Day just around the corner Moda Events team Jessica Layton and Lucy Wade reflect on that event they will always remember.“For my seventh birthday party, Mum, who is an exhibition planner, ordered a massive custom made sausage and coiled it up to look like a snake in the middle of the table. She had my Grandma play the fortune teller next to the snake and all my friends lined up to have our palms read!” says Jessica.“After that, she set up a spooky maze in the garage to cap it all off, complete with skeletons! She always went all out for birthdays, even when she had been in hospital she once stayed up all night making me a special boom box cake for my birthday.”For Lucy, it was a special Christmas present that Mum knew how much she wanted that stands out.“She handed me my other presents and then said, there’s just one more that I forgot about,” she says. “It was a TV remote, and she’d hidden the TV in my cupboard. The scaffolding is now coming down from the latest stage of Portside Wharf, Promenade Hamilton Apartments.

The 15 level building, which will feature 172 luxury apartments and 15 new retail spaces, has reached the top, with final completion and settlements on track for May this year.

Brookfield Residential Properties national director Philip Leahy said interest is continuing to increase in the apartments, as the building nears the finish line.

“Buyers now are able to view the apartments first hand and we have seen increased interest as a result,” he said.
