2017 Summer Session— A few details!

Purpose of the NCTA Summer Programs: Short-term specialized training programs designed for students who

have not had the opportunity to attend the Skills Center, because of scheduling con-flicts.

Introductory training for students entering Skills Center programs in the fall. Additional training and reinforcement for students presently enrolled in Skills Center

programs. Connect to your sending HS to find out what great options you have in Career &

Technical Education! The skills you learn at the Skills Center can pay off in a better job later or help you dis-cover an area in which you excel. Notification: Students will be notified by mail of their program enrollment the week of June 05 (or earlier). We try to honor first selection choices as best we can. NCTA will also try and balance classes for equitable access for all students. Cancellations: Often we have many students on waiting lists. Please alert us as soon as possible to any can-cellation by phone at 360 848-0706 or by email: [email protected] Applications: Applications are available on our website! Please visit nwtech.k12.wa.us Who is Eligible? Summer Session is open to incoming 9th graders through non-graduated seniors. Times: Summer session programs will run from 8AM to 3PM daily. There will be a 30 minute lunch each day. Cost: Free! There is no cost for summer school except for possible small fees such as food handlers cards, etc. Credit: Students can earn a semester (0.5) high school occupational education credit for successful completion of a summer school class. Students taking the Family/High School Health course will earn a semester (0.5) high school health credit. Attendance is mandatory to receive credit. For extenuating circumstance regarding attendance, please connect with the Director regarding credit. Special Assistance: NCTA needs to be advised in advance of the start of summer school regarding students requiring special assis-tance such as one-to-one educational aides, IEP accommodation, 504 accommodation, etc. If a student re-quires specific accommodation during the regular school year, the same accommodation is required during summer session. NCTA will coordinate accommodation needs with the student's sending district.
