5The company

In 1925 Timoteo Martini, father of the

current chairman, founded Lampadari

Martini, a small company producing

professionally crafted lighting fixtures in

Milan. The Martini Illuminazione Group

comprises Martini S.p.A. (established

in 1971 at Concordia sulla Secchia in

the province of Modena), Sames S.p.A

(purchased in 1995 and transferred from

Moncalieri to the same manufacturing

premises) and, since 2006, Sothis (a

company specialising in the production of

decorative STRASS glass lamps). In over

eighty years of commercial activity, the

group has become a leading organisation

within the industry.

The Martini group conducts in-depth

research into product design and

construction, and monitors the technical

lighting performance of the resulting

fixtures. This means a vast array of products

can be used in a variety of ways, from

indoor lighting for offices and workplaces,

commercial environments, reception areas,

cultural sites and museums to outdoor

applications such as urban and street

lighting. 170 people are employed at the

Martini Illuminazione group manufacturing

sites, which cover a total area of 21,500

square metres.

Through the consolidated experience

of a large team of architects and lighting

designers, Martini has been offering

assistance in the design and development

of lighting schemes for years, from the

preliminary research phase right through

to the selection of individual products and

technical lighting calculations.

The requirements of each project are

always carefully assessed, so as to guide

the design and check the actual impact of

the light on the environment, in order to

adhere to the standards governing every

indoor and outdoor installation. Martini

group designers use technical lighting

calculation software to offer solutions

which enhance the various product and

light source types, optimising performance

and comfort and therefore saving energy

in every architectural context (through the

application of outdoor LED products, for

example).

A lighting technology design centre has

recently been established in Milan and

showrooms opened in Rome, Moscow and

Saint Petersburg as part of a constantly-

evolving programme.

All fixtures are designed for use in

conjunction with the most up-to-date

light sources: halogen, fluorescent, metal

halide and sodium vapour, with particular

emphasis on LED technology; they are also

subjected to an ISO 9001 certified quality

control process, during which they are

tested and checked in our own in-house

laboratory.

Special attention is also given to making

sure that current legislation is observed in

all relevant countries, and that the technical

and lighting features of the products are

assessed and certified correctly.

The products are designed using the

most up-to-date modelling and three-

dimensional prototyping software, in

accordance with ISO EN 9001-2008

quality system procedures. A group of

in-house technicians designs and de-

velops reflectors using special software

which checks data accuracy and helps

to optimise performance in terms of the

energy used; the calculated values are

then verified in the test laboratory.

Departments are created in accord-

ance with the latest logistics criteria, and

structured so that components and semi-

processed parts can be located quickly

through barcode management. Special-

ist staff are given continuous training to

guarantee reliability and quality during all

processing phases.

The processes are supported by semi-

automated equipment, which helps to

reduce lighting fixture manufacturing

times. Furthermore, at the end of the

line, full functional tests are conducted

on the finished product.

wealth of experience in the field of

lighting technology over a period of

many years; coupled with its close

partnerships with designers and ar-

chitects, this has led to the creation

of many technical solutions for indoor

lighting, urban lighting and the accent

lighting used to enhance buildings and

monuments.

Our planning and design research is

carried out across Italy and overseas. It

is extremely flexible and can be adapt-

ed to suit the requirements of each

customer, offering continuous support

so as to develop the best possible tech-

nological solutions.

Martini, recognising the need to satisfy

all types of customer requests and tak-

ing its company philosophy as a starting

point, has constructed its own website

in such a way that everyone has full ac-

cess to the products, even before any

direct contact has taken place. The site

is actually divided into detailed sections

dedicated to product families, projects,

technical data, parallel activities un-

dertaken by the company, events and

newly-released products.

The website is easy to read, thanks to the

initial interface which has a menu guiding

the user to the relevant area quickly and

intuitively, without missing any important

information.

Each section features a broad descrip-

tion to improve the initial approach and

to complement the graphics used, thus

helping to simplify the data learning proc-

ess.

The download section, complete with

brochures and catalogues, can be used

to download 2D and 3D diagrams, tech-

nical specifications, installation instruc-

tions and technical lighting calculation

software.

Our qualified staff keep the site constant-

ly updated, entering data in real time and

ensuring the structure meets all market-

ing requirements.

Accessori

I riflettori e gli accessori intercambiabi-

li, di facile sostituzione, permettono di

adattare il proiettore ad eventuali nuove

esigenze dilluminazione, passando cos

da unilluminazione diffusa di riempie-

mento ad una concentrata daccento, o

viceversa.

Taglio termico

Oltre alle consuete fessure di convezio-

ne, per creare uno scambio termico otti-

male stato creato uno spazio daria tra

il vano lampada e il corpo del proiettore

(anello verde), in pratica una vera e pro-

pria camera daria per ripartire e convo-

gliare dinamicamente il calore generato

dalla sorgente luminosa verso lesterno.

Durante il funzionamento in qualsiasi

posizione il riciclo di aria per il raffredda-

mento continuo.

Sono state adottate delle soluzioni tecni-

che specifiche, affinch la temperatura

del corpo centrale in lega di alluminio

risultasse tollerabile durante la presa

per il puntamento (nella fase di accen-

sione), nessun elemento metallico mette

in contatto il vano lampada con il corpo

esterno.

Regolazione puntamenti

Lapparecchio dotato di blocco del pun-

tamento sia per il piano verticale che per

quello orizzontale: qualora necessario, si

ha la possibilit di bloccare il proiettore in

una specifica direzione evitando sposta-

menti accidentali e quindi la perdita del

puntamento iniziale. Questa dotazione

indispensabile per musei, gallerie darte e

applicazioni tecniche dove il puntamento

del proiettore fatto da professionisti e

non deve essere modificato.

Il proiettore Mickey viene fornito con adat-

tatore a binari Eurostandard. Il suo peso

contenuto, anche nella versione pi gran-

de, rende possibile luso delladattatore di

media dimensione, che non turba lesteti-

ca del prodotto e lo rende adatto alla col-

locazione in qualsiasi contesto. L estrema

leggerezza gli consente altres di poter

essere montato sia su binario orizzontale

che verticale nelle versioni 90 e 140 con

lapposito accessorio di arresto.

Corpo

Realizzato in tre misure, il proiettore,

costituito da un elemento ottenuto me-

diante processo destrusione dellallumi-

nio e successiva lavorazione meccanica;

da due tappi, anteriore e posteriore, e da

un anello frontale realizzati in materiale

plastico PPS resistente ad alte tempera-

ture su cui sono montate le ottiche.

Lo snodo realizzato in pressofusione

dalluminio che permette il puntamento

del proiettore.

I riflettori sono in alluminio trattati con

processo di metallizzazione ad alto vuoto.

Shop Line 36 pendant, recessed

The clean, essential lines of the Shop

Line 36 fixture make it suitable for use

in any modern environment. The range

is available as a pendant fixture, or in a

recessed version designed for application

to plasterboard surfaces; this product

may also be fitted into walls.

To complete the range, all fixtures are

available in an analogue 1-10 V dimmer

or a D.A.L.I. dimmer version.

The Shop line 59 system is offered as a

modular system which, with the applica-

tion of various accessories, can be used

to create channels of light with varying

length measurements. This product was

designed to make the connection of dif-

ferent modules easier and to reduce

installation times; each fixture is already

set up for electrical connection in a row.

The illuminated channel consists of mod-

ules measuring between 873 mm and

2946 mm in length. A fundamental fea-

ture of this channel is the overlapping of

the lamps by approximately 82 mm, for

continuous light diffusion.

The modules consist of an extruded body,

wiring and a satin-finish polycarbonate

diffuser screen with specially shaped

ends which make overlapping possible

when arranged in a continuous row.

The special shape of the extrusion means

the diffuser screen or darklight optic can

be positioned flush with the extrusion it-

self, or moved back by 10 mm (see figure

5-6).

ylate (PMMA) screen ensures uniform

distribution of the luminous flux in order

To order the SL 59 ceiling-mounted

fixture correctly, proceed as follows: in

addition to the body, the wiring and the

screen you should order the ceiling at-

tachment accessory. Furthermore, for

fixtures arranged in a continuous row,

the illuminated channel should be com-

pleted with linear or 90 coupling ele-

ments.

The ceiling-mounted fixture is designed

to be screwed to the ceiling using screw

anchors; the reduced thickness of the

top part of the fixture means that the

cable input point can be modified by

drilling holes in the body, in accordance

with your requirements.

Quaterna ceiling-mounted/pendant

An archetypal shape - the cube - has

been opened on one side so that a square

optic can be inserted. In terms of shape,

the result is extremely severe, yet flexible

in its application.

This product family consists of pendants

and wall-mounted fixtures. Several pen-

dant versions may be joined togther us-

ing the linear or 90 coupling element. A

perforated steel sheet and polycarbonate

filter placed in between provides direct/

indirect lighting. The fixture comes com-

plete with die-cast aluminium end caps.

Dafne pendant, wall-mounted

This family of indirect light pendant and

wall-mounted fixtures was created by

combining simple and fluid lines. The

light concept and streamlined shape of

the Dafne product make it ideal for giving

spaces a distinctive feel while integrating

easily into them, from open-plan office

environments to elegant representative

areas.

The coloured side lighting strips can be

customised, making this a very distinctive

product.

Extruded aluminium and steel fixture with

methacrylate top screen.

Novi 620/450/380 is a series of versatile

and highly appealing pendants, created

for the illumination of the most diverse

environments.

The extensive range can be used to create

three different types of emission: diffused

(using parabolic glass), direct (using an

aluminium reflector) and direct-indirect

(using a glass-aluminium reflector).

The fixture is suitable for application in

many different lighting schemes, thanks

to its subtle design and the great variety

of wiring options available.
