Walk Safely

• Use sidewalks and crosswalks.• Obey traffic signals.• Walk facing traffic if there are no sidewalks.• Walk with a friend or responsible adult.• Wear light-colored or reflective clothes if you

are out at night.

• Be careful around adults you don’t know.• A stranger could ask for directions or help to find

a lost pet. • If someone you don’t know invites you into a car,

say “no” in a loud voice.• Run away as fast as you can in the opposite

• Wear a helmet for all these activities. • Use bike hand signals when you are you are at

the end of the street.• When you are skating or skateboarding you

should wear knee and elbow pads.• Always ride on a sidewalk.• Wear bright clothing so drivers can see you

riding.

When it’s Cold

• Wear warm clothes to protect you from the cold.• Move your body to stay warm.

• Wear several layers of clothing to prevent frostbite.• Frostbite is an injury caused by extreme cold.• If someone gets frostbite, get medical care immediately.

• Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect your skin from burning.

• Drink extra water to cool off.

• Wear loose, protective clothes.• Then have fun in the sun!

• Never dive into a lake or river.

• A paper cut is not an emergency• An emergency is a situation where help is

needed immediately• Examples of emergencies are car crashes, a

broken bone, or heart attacks • Always call 911 during an emergency• Have a plan in case of a emergency

Natural Disasters

A natural disaster is something that is not

caused by man, but by nature, such as

hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes.

Hurricane • A hurricane is a very deadly storm• Hurricanes can pick up cars and houses• Hurricanes have very strong winds• Hurricanes can easily break windows and tear

apart walls

Floods • A flood is an overflow of water onto normally

dry land• Never swim or drive a car through flood

waters• A flash flood is a sudden flood usually caused

by heavy rain• Floods can take out cars houses and can even

kill people!!!

Earthquakes • They can demolish big buildings and cut out

power• If an earthquake happens put your hands over

your head like this example (Jacob) • Do not get near any book cases if there is an

earthquake• An earthquake is caused by sudden shifting in

the earths plates

Facts on First Aid

• First aid is a quick and temporary care given to a person who has sudden illness or injury

• Minor Cuts And Bleeding• Tetanus shots are shots that are given to someone

with a deep cut • When some one gets a minor cut wash it with

water• Once you have helped the person go get help fast

First Aid for Minor injuries• If you get a bee sting you must remove the stinger

from your body and run cold water over the sting• If the person starts having trouble to breath from

a bee sting contact 911 eminently• If someone gets bitten by a black widow or brown

recluse then contact medical care• A blister is an area the skin where fluid collects• If someone gets poison ivy, oak, or sumac run cold

water over the rash

• Check to see whether the person is breathing.• Tap them on their head and shout “Are you

okay!”• Call 911 for help.• Lay the person on their back.• Do CPR if they aren’t breathing.
