Dubai - Overview
• One of the most rapidly emerging fashion regions of the world
• Has a vibrant & highly knowledgeable cosmopolitan population
• Sophisticated consumer base with a high spend capability for ready to wear, luxury &
couture products
• However, there exists a vacuum in the area of collective Indian prêt & couture
presentation
• Dubai Fashion Week is totally devoid of a single platform for prêt & couture Indian
designer’s representations
• Dubai Fashion Week is moving towards positioning itself as the fashion week for
regional designers from across GCC, Egypt and North Africa
Fashion Scenario - Dubai
Time is right for a definitive and credible India Fashion Week in Dubai.
Dubai needs to set Indian Designer’s showcase and provide a uniform and cohesive
platform for designers from INDIA to retail to its consumers in middle east region stationed
from Dubai
Dubai needs an event of international standards for Indian designers to showcase it’s finest
seasonal collections to clients, HNWI’s, media and buyers
Dubai needs to create a sophisticated and luxurious environment that would feature a four
to five day event with top professionals and state of the art production standards.
Fashion continues to enjoy aspirational positioning – riche, classe, royale, niche, exclusive,
exotic, snob value! An apt value proposition for sales and marketing functions of luxury and
lifestyle brands
Why India Fashion Week, Dubai ?
The Indian Connection
• Indian pret & couture designers are creating waves in the International market such as
Manish Arora, Sabyasachi, Anamika Khanna, Shane & Falguni, Ashish Soni etc
• All above mentioned designers have been showcasing at London Fashion Week, New
York Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and many more…
• Hallmark of this recent resurgence is also highlighted by the fact that a fashion stalwart
like Jean Paul Gaultier showed a whole collection called "Indian Chiaroscuro“, reflecting the designs of India.
• Another noteworthy fact is hat fashion stars Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla's creations
were worn by Sophie Maceau in the Bond flick 'The World is Not Enough’ and many
more of such endorsements by international celebrities..
• The scene in the international market for Indian pret & couture does sound promising
but it would not be wrong to say that this is just the beginning and what better than to have an India Fashion Week in Dubai.
Why India Fashion Week, Dubai ?
• India Fashion Week, Dubai will be an upscale event that will enable Indian designers to present
their collections at a common platform

Surveys tell us, rich and affluent (HNWIs and ultra HNWIs) like to invest in fashion, art,
jewellery, luxury travel, sport, wellness, personal jets and yachts etc….
There are subtle differences across regions. For example, in Asia Pacific, investment is
higher in indigenous fashion, jewellery, gems and watches whereas in North American
spends are more on luxury and experiential travel
Indians culturally spend primarily on fashion clothing, jewelry, gems, watches, gold,
diamonds, wedding attire which can be comprehensively be placed under Indian designers
repertoire of fashion clothing and accessories…
