Columbia Fashion Week 2014
PRESS / MEDIA KIT
Columbia Fashion Week is
Columbia’s first official 5 day /
night fashion week. Recognized by
Mayor Benjamin as the first of its
kind, CFW made history in the
capital city.
About CFW
Columbia Fashion Week
CFW (formerly Columbia Style Week) launched in June of 2012 and was slated to be 5 days and 5 nights of fashion, arts, chic mixers, live
entertainment, exclusive shopping, and fashion education. Recognized by the Mayor of Columbia and the City Council, CFW 2012 took
Columbia by storm and established Columbia as a legitimate emerging presence in the fashion industry for
the Carolinas.
In the second year, CFW continued to grow and gain local and national attention. All five nights of Columbia
Fashion Week events were completely sold out!
Columbia Fashion Week has partnered with the American Heart Association, Clothed in Hope and other local charities for official CFW pre-events including: “Follow Your Heart Charity Auction and Gala”,
“Posh and Panache”, “Clutches and Cocktails”, and more. Some events are planned by the CFW staff, while others are planned and hosted by businesses in the community that have applied to add their events to the official CFW Pre-Event Calendar.
June 18-21, 2014

professionals in Columbia, South Carolina and beyond.
o Increase economic development for Columbia’s fashion,
retail and style community, in turn creating more
opportunities for the fashion arts professionals locally.
o Create an annual event that brings the “Who’s Who” in
fashion to Columbia, South Carolina.
o Bring national awareness and media opportunities to the
local fashion community.
o Create jobs and recognition to encourage locals to stay in

A native of New York, at 3 years of age, Alicia Zeigler was signed and working through
Sunshine Talent Agency in Manhattan. Auditioning and modeling for clients which included
Bradlees, Zares, Mrs. Butterworth, Teddy Ruxpin, Sesame Street and more.
Alicia learned ballet and African dance studying under Broadway performer, Wilhelmena
Taylor at Mind Builders Creative Arts Center in the Bronx.
At 24 years old, Alicia started Fortress Fashion Shows and organized her first fashion show for
Sister Care of Columbia. During the process, she realized once again her love for art and
fashion. While producing the shows and meeting aspiring models in Columbia, she realized that
there was a need for talent management. She was inspired to become the founder and operator
of FFS Model and Talent Agency in Columbia SC.
FFS Model and Talent Agency works to assist models in training, booking legitimate and safe
jobs, building their portfolios, grooming, acting, and auditioning skills. FFS Currently boasts
over 60 WORKING actors and models. Hiring talent and securing auditions for national movies
and television shows (Army Wives, Good Deeds, Graceland, Eastbound and Down, WWE,
Witness Protection, Ecoloblue, Homeland, Little Red Wagon, Budweiser, Magnum Icecream,
For Colored Girls, Sleeping Around, Charleston Fashion Week, Charlotte NC Fashion Week,
Charlotte Seen Fashion Week, Columbia Style Week, Swim Week and many others) as well as
local boutiques and businesses, Alicia has provided local models with an opportunity to actually
book paying jobs in the field they love.
Alicia also uses her influence and position to give back to the community, giving to and raising
funds and awareness for various non-profit organizations within the community through her
fashion shows and events (including: The American Heart Association - Midlands, Sistercare,
Harvest Hope, The Food Boutique, and others)
In January of 2011, Alicia Zeigler took over Wink Magazine, a local digital women’s fashion
magazine. A finalist in the Digital Magazine Awards in 2010, Wink was the first to provide
beauty and fashion tips, news, and event coverage for a demographic of women in Columbia
that had not previously has a publication exclusively for them and their age bracket. Taking the
magazine from digital to print, and from quarterly to monthly, Alicia has more than tripled the
readership in less than a year. As an official media sponsor for: Women in Philanthropy's
Power of the Purse Event, Charleston Eco-Fashion Event, Charlotte NC Fashion Week and
Columbia Style Week, and others.
In all of her networking, Alicia founded the Columbia Fashion Alliance (which is a network of
varied fashion professionals working together to increase the fashion presence in the city of
Columbia) and quickly scheduled the 2 major annual events: The CFA Career Fair (which is an
annual career fair for beauty and fashion professionals to find work in their field), and
Columbia Style Week, (Columbia’s first official fashion week). Columbia Style Week,
launched in June of 2012, and brought the city it's first ever 5 day/night fashion week. The
week consisted of fashion, arts, entertainment, and education. Recognized by the Mayor of
Columbia and the City Council, and sponsored by Audi Columbia, Columbia Metropolitan
Magazine, Wink Magazine, WNOK Radio, and others, CSW 2012 took Columbia by storm and
finally established Columbia as an emerging presence in the fashion industry for the Southeast.
Named one of Columbia's "25 Most Stylish People" in 2011, one of Columbia's "10 Most
Fascinating People" in 2012 and the SE 2013 Magazine's "Top Woman of Influence" Award
winner, Alicia Zeigler is one to watch in 2014.

Luis Machicao grew up with one thing on his mind… FASHION; however, it wasn’t until the age of 20 that he actively began to
pursue his dream.
Mr. Machicao began his career in Peru by enrolling in The School of Dramatic Arts where he received his education, later he
decided to move to another school and began studying Fashion Design in a local Fashion Institute where he graduated with
honors.
Afterwards he enrolled in the University to study Sociology, he is on the belief that fashion is a social manifestation of the
human being. After 4 years at the university he flew to Paris where he knew he could complete his education with experience. It
was while in Paris that everything came together on how to dress people from head to toe in good taste.
Later, when Mr. Machicao went back to Peru, he began working in TV miniseries, Soap Operas and Theater. He was then hired
for the First Lady to serve his country with his impeccable taste, also dressing celebrities and socialites. While working he began showing his own collections in fashion shows. It was here that he found his passion – runways! Mr.
Machicao began to show his own collections internationally which resulted in him moving to the United States of America. He
has presented his collections in cities such as Houston, Austin, San Francisco, Miami, Charlotte, New Orleans, Milan, Paris,
Barcelona, Washington D.C. and now, showing his latest Fall-Winter 2013 collection at New York’s fashion week. To learn more
